Destiny of Light (2)

Jargos placed his hands on Luna's and gave her the last of his strength. Before they could find out if it worked or not, both men fell backwards, unconscious. Neither of them had energy left. Jargos was crying his sleep

Layla started to come back to consciousness. She started to sit up until Luna stopped her. "Hey, you might want to stay still for a bit. Your power levels have just now started rising again."

"W-what's going on?" she asked.

"You nearly died. That's what's going on."

"I feel exhausted."

"Well, that's no surprise. But, you can take another nap later. I've got to wake up the boys when they get their strength back up. Jargos was terrified."

At Jargos' name, she sat up to check on him. Luna came behind her as she got dizzy. "Easy. He's okay and so are you." Luna helped Layla get beside Jargos.

Layla put Jargos' hand in-between hers. "I'm just glad he's back and he's safe."

Jargos' crying subsided slowly at Layla's touch. Kreig's runes drew in enough power that he could wake up. Kreig began to rise, smiling to see Layla awake


"I was so worried . . . Jargos was in hysterics . . . Luna did it . . . She saved us . . ."

Layla smiled. "Even when it was just down to her. I don't know how you did it, Luna, but I'm proud of you. You didn't give up, even when the rest of us couldn't continue."

Luna smiled. She changed her position to heal both Jargos and Kreig at the same time. "The woman is gone and I think about all of us need a break."

Jargos remained sleeping, while Kreig got healthier, which reminded him

"Luna, there's a pit with a bunch of sick people. The shadows drew their power from them. Put healing magic into the ground, let it seep in and get to the so they can escape" Kreig told her

Luna nodded. She did as Kreig said pushed her available magic through. Layla was amazed. "Everything you've done today I couldn't have pulled off easily. That kind of magic usage is intense."

"Well, someone had to do it."

Soon, people began to come out of the pit that Jargos and Kreig crawled out of

Layla rubbed her thumb over Jargos' hand gently. "Come on, Jargos. We're all tired, but we've got to keep moving," she said quietly.

Luna continued on with her magic. Even she was starting to feel exhaustion come over her. She had used magic beyond her limits.

Jargos' body began to make sounds at Layla's request for him to wake up


Kreig helped Luna up, she had done enough

Layla smiled. "Hey there," she said with a bit of a laugh.

With a small hug, Luna said, "Thanks for coming back."

Jargos smiled faintly as his eyes opened, then he tried to get up.
"Good morning . . ." He whispered


"For you, always" Kreig replied softly

Layla kissed his cheek gently. "I think it's about obvious that all of us are overly exhausted." She laughed.

Jargos kissed her cheek in response. Then he got up and looked around


Kreig looked around as well

Layla paused to think. "Wait, did you finish off Mortifer or is he still alive?"

Luna turned away from her view. "Mortifer committed suicide with my blade. Someone else was behind it all. Though, when we landed our final attack, she just vanished into thin air."

"Is it over then? I mean, is it done?" Kreig asked


Jargos was unsure

"The sky is starting to clear and I don't hear anything," Luna stated.

"I don't have the power to attack again, so let's hope that this is over." Layla put her hand on top of Jargos', silently thanking his return. Kissing him gently on the cheek, she put her head on his shoulder.

Luna stood up to look around. "I think it's finally over. I really do."

Jargos nuzzled Layla and Kreig nodded

With nothing that she could see, Luna said, "Come on. Let's get to Garlan. Make sure everything is safe there."

Jargos nodded and lead the way, but slowly. He was beyond exhausted

Luna gave some support to Layla and they walked back to Garlan. Luna could make out the figures of the beasts in the distance, still remaining in the kingdom.

The Beasts were helping clean up, moving large amounts bodies out of the way



Jargos was droning as Kreig walked along, droning as well

Both the two women were weakened but were able to keep moving for the time being. They made it to the gates and were a bit stunned with what they saw.

"It looks like a tornado ran through here," Layla stated.

"Might as well have," Luna replied.

Jargos nodded to the Beasts, as he lead the way through town

Kreig took notice of the body count, it seemed off somehow

Layla looked around. "I can't believe how much damage has been caused." She sighed. "We probably should have killed him before he had the chance to do much more. I can't believe how stupid I was..."

"You were following what you believed. You can't help that," Luna said in reply.

Jargos went to hold Layla close to him


Kreig began to inspect further
