Destiny of Light (2)

Layla walked close to Jargos. Luna left to join Kreig.

"I can tell something's on your mind. Everything all right?" Luna asked.

Jargos nuzzled her gently


Kreig looked around. It felt like only half the bodies were present

Luna had a bit of a confused look on her face. "Kreig? You okay?" she asked again. She looked around, thinking something was off.

"It feels like only half the army we fought is here. The body count seems low" Kreig said

"That gives me a bad feeling. A really bad feeling." Luna started thinking. "Some of them were burned, but I see where you're coming from."

"I hope I'm just imagining this" Kreig said as he shook his head and walked off


Jargos was looking around for someone in charge to talk to

Layla spotted one of the knights in the distance. "Over there. I see one of the knights. Perhaps we should see if we could talk to the current monarch."

"Agreed" Jargos said, then headed that way

As they approached the knight, the man stated, "Are you two the ones responsible for the events that happened here?"

"Well, you could say that to some extent," Layla replied.

Jargos let Layla talk. The man seemed a low ranking knight



Kreig looked around, then snarled, but he was too exhausted and dropped to a knee

The knight replied, "If you two are involved, then come with me. I expected that you would want entry."

Layla nodded to Jargos. "Let's go."

Luna put her arm around Kreig. "Jargos and Layla are heading to the castle. We should probably join them. I'll give you a hand." She smiled.

Jargos looked over to Luna and Kreig, then waited for them before heading with the knight

Luna helped Kreig up and gave him some support. "We're all exhausted, I know. But we've just got to push a little bit further."

"Alright" Kreig nodded

The two joined Jargos and Layla. "If you two got us an appointment, then let's not put it to waste."

Layla nodded and told the knight to proceed. She stayed beside Jargos, feeling better with him beside her.

Jargos' arm was wrapped around Layla's shoulder


Kreig was droning

Luna gave her best effort to keep Kreig moving. "I think we'll all be happy to sleep in a bed soon, even if it's for a short time."

Within a couple of minutes, they were in the throne room of the castle. The knight walked and stood beside the throne as the reigning monarch began to enter the room.

Jargos watched as a frail servant boy entered the room from behind the curtains. He whispered in the knights ear. The knight looked puzzled, then stepped forward

"I'm sorry to inform you that the reining monarch, Queen Onnea, is bed-ridden, she cannot see you. I'm sure she sends her deepest gratitude" The knight spoke as if he were unsure


Jargos and Kreig looked at the knight, then at each other, then to Layla and Luna respectively

Layla was a bit curious. "Bed-ridden?" she asked. "Has Her Highness fallen ill?" It reminded her of the events prior to her leave to Nicca. The thought made Layla a bit tense.

"I suppose so" The knight said "My apologies"



"Let's go, we should get rooms at the inn" Kreig said


"I'll not hear of it" A stout, cheery woman came in "I've made up our finest lounge for you four saviors. I'm Madame Helf, I'm the head maid"


Jargos nodded to the woman

Luna spoke up after letting out a sigh of relief. "Thank you ever so much." Luna was looking forward to an evening's worth of rest, as was Layla. Both of them were wiped from all the usage of their magic, and were hoping on a relaxing evening with a cup of fine tea.

Madame Helf lead the way to a grand lounge with four large beds, a massive table full of foods and teas

"This room is yours for as long as you like"


"Thank you very much" Kreig said

As the four entered the room, Luna was amazed at its beauty. She walked Kreig over to one of the beds to let him rest and kissed him gently.

Layla turned around and thanked the woman kindly. "I can't thank you enough for letting us stay here. I think I speak for everyone when I say we're all exhausted."

Kreig kissed back gently, his hand holding her face



Jargos nuzzled Layla then walked the to the table to get her tea as the kind woman left

Luna sat down beside Kreig and enjoyed the moment.

Layla picked one of the spare beds to rest in and took the moment to relax. "One evening to finally kick back, relax, and enjoy ourselves in a bit of luxury. I can't remember the last time I had this kind of satisfaction." She stretched a bit.
