Jargos nodded after a moment to think

"Let's do it"

Layla nodded. "I'll have to see if Luna has a spare on her belt. If not, we'll need to make a trip to the village." She walked back to where Kreig and Luna were. "We think we've about come to a conclusion as to what we're going to do with him."

Jargos followed

"Alright?" Kreig asked

"I refuse to kill this man, despite every bit of me wanting to. I think about the best method is to strip his powers. It won't kill him but it'll keep him from harming anyone else."

"That makes sense" Kreig said "How do we do it?"

"We'd need a potion. I used to rarely ever keep one of these things on my belt back when Ramona was still lurking around. She'd do anything to take mine. But, Luna, do you still have any?"

From a pocket hidden in her suit, Luna pulled a small vial. "I kept this thinking we'd run into trouble. Do you think it's enough?"

"Probably."

"Alright, get him on the ground and keep him still. These things taste horrible and they do hurt while they're working. At least, that's what I've always been told."

Jargos nodded and pinned him down with Kreig's help

Luna knelt beside Mortifer, though he was squirming to get loose. Layla held his head still. "Go for it, Luna."

Luna nodded. After a few moments of fighting, she was able to get the potion down Mortifer's throat. "Success."

Jargos and Kreig kept him pinned until his powers were stripped completely

Mortifer was yelling out in pain. One by one, his powers were torn from him and cast out of his body. Upon entry into the air, they were destroyed being that they were unable to operate without his body. By the time the process was complete, he was breathing heavily and much weaker than before. Mortifer couldn't move because the potion had exhausted him.

"He won't be hurting anyone anymore."

Jargos felt relived


Kreig let out a sigh of success

Layla stood up and walked away from Mortifer. "I've seen enough of him. Let him go or turn him into the king of Garlan. I don't care. But seeing him dead is the last thing I can bear to see."

"Garlan sounds to be the best idea" Kreig said

"Whatever you all want to do. I just want him out of my sight." Layla started walking the direction of Garlan, knowing that would be their next destination.

Luna looked at Kreig with concern but left the situation alone.

Kreig nodded to Luna, and helped Jargos picked Mortifer up

Luna walked alongside Kreig. She left Layla alone, knowing she wouldn't accept company at the moment.

Kreig wrapped one arm around Luna's shoulder as he shifted down



Jargos walked behind the group

After some time, Garlan was in full view. It was mid-afternoon. Luna finally went up to Layla to check on her.

"Are you okay?" Luna asked.

"I just need some time to breathe a bit, Luna. I'm alright."

Jargos was getting tired


Kreig walked along

In the view of the gates of Garlan, Layla dropped back to join the group.

Jargos was still behind the group, but that's how he wanted it

Kreig was getting anxious

Layla spoke to Jargos. "Maybe now the world will be safe. At least, until the next century." She laughed. "Hopefully, by that time, they'll have another set of heroes willing to take on the fight."

"I hope so" Jargos replied

Layla walked over to Luna and put a hand on her shoulder. "You know, you really are a lot like your grandfather. I'm sorry that I wasn't there for you or for Madalyn. I'm just glad that the bloodline will continue with you. You'll get stronger. A lot stronger. More than I'll probably be."

"You're already a lot stronger than I am. How can I even live up to that?"

"We're the descendants of the strongest people known in our clan. If the legacy still runs strong, then you still have much to learn. And you're going to need someone to help you control it until you can handle it on your own. I'll have to be that teacher."

The two women smiled.

Jargos and Kreig smiled
