"I'm sure he's gonna be happy to see this!" Kreig left to get Jargos

(Yay for referencing the 1800s when photos were actually possible!)

Layla opened the locket at her neck and glanced at the photo. Everything she had lost when she was younger was back in place. Well, almost everything. For the first time in a long time, she could feel Airen's spirit with her.

Kreig couldn't wake Jargos, so he left to go tell the women that he'd just see later

When Kreig returned, Layla was sure that Jargos was out cold from exhaustion. She was overjoyed, however, that she finally had her sight back. Layla glanced into a nearby mirror.

"Are you sure you don't remember anything, Grandmother?"

"Nothing at all, but whatever happened apparently turned my hair a tint of blonde. It's naturally white." She shrugged it off and finally sat down to calm herself of her inner joy. "You know, Lunalia, you do resemble your mother. Her hair was brunette, taking after your grandfather. And I see you take after the both of them."

Kreig smiled at the happy news, he was very cheerful

"I don't know what Raven or Jargos did, but they're both miracle workers. Here's what I don't understand, however. If my vision is back, then that means that the spell on me has been truly broken." Layla became instantly concerned. "I'll have to talk to Jargos when he wakes up."

A low growl came from Jargos, and the sound traveled into the other room. The sound was followed by a series of barks and a roar

Layla looked at Kreig and then Luna. "We better go see what's going on." Layla quickly ran downstairs with Luna close behind.

Jargos was reared up on his hind legs fully shifted, snarling at the door. Once Kreig got into the room, he felt a sharp pain in his spine and dropped to his knees, his breathing labored.

Layla grabbed her staff in a hurry. "Jargos, what's going on?" She pulled her weapon into a defensive position.

Luna immediately pulled her sword; however, when Kreig fell to the ground, she ran to his side. "Kreig, are you alright? What's wrong?"

Jargos bellowed a monstrous roar that made the building shake

Kreig looked at her "The shadows are crossing the water, their coming here . . ." Kreig grunted as a popping noise came from his spine

Layla overheard Kreig's statement. "Then this is indeed bad news. I need to go warn Master Raven. He's closer to the waters than we are so he's the first in their path."

A green sphere formed around Luna's hand and she placed it on Kreig's back. She was trying to prevent pain travelling any further through him.

Jargos stood snarling


Kreig's body rejected the sphere as it slowly grew in size, cracking sounds emanating from every square inch of him, his runes glowing a bright red

As Layla got in position to run, she looked at Jargos in the eyes and whispered, "I know you had some involvement in why I'm still standing here right now. For that, I'm eternally grateful. Be careful. Will you promise me that?" Without waiting for an answer, she ran off quickly. She looked back at Jargos once more before he was out of sight.

He nodded when she looked back, promising her



Kreig stood as his skin darkened and fangs jutted up from his gums. He roared out as claws came from his finger tips and his snout elongated an inch or so. A tail grew out of his tail bone as his eyes became crystalline. He looked at his hands, his breathing still labored, not beleiving what had happened


Jargos looked at him and barked

Layla could see dark clouds forming in the sky; a storm was going to form soon. When Raven's house was in sight, Layla picked up her pace.

Luna was in amazement as Kreig's change of form. "You learn something new about someone every day."

What was impossible to convey to Luna right then was that Kreig shouldn't have been able to change for another 40 years, but it seems the impending danger forced him to shift to be able to protect everyone

Jargos nodded to Kreig

Layla quickly rushed into Raven's home, needing to quickly get him away. "Master Raven, you must come with me immediately! Those creatures are on their way here, and there isn't a moment to lose."

"I was sure they'd be here eventually. I packed some materials in a bag just in case. Lead the way back to your team and I'll help you hold them off. And before you ask me, I can tell you the results of yesterday. I'll tell you along the way." Layla nodded. The two ran back to Layla's home, wanting to get there before the shadows beat them there. Raven explained the events from the day before prior to arrival. Layla was in shock at hearing that she had her own deity's blessing now.

Jargos and Kreig were ready to fight

Raven and Layla quickly made it back. Raven stated, "We don't have much time before they'll be here. It's not safe for any of you to be here any longer."

Jargos nuzzled Layla as she returned, while Kreig stood close to Luna

Shadows were seen in the distance as the sky grew darker. "Brace yourselves! We have company!" Raven yelled out. "Remember, if they do so much as scratch you then you run the risk of becoming infected by them. We currently have no resistance against them right now. This is why it's crucial that you all leave in a hurry."

"I won't leave without you, Master Raven."

"If you are to escape, you'll have to."

Jargos and Kreig waited for Luna and Layla to go before they would, seeing as they shifted to protect them

Shadows started surrounding the building. Raven took the opportunity to lead them away. He left his bag on the ground next to Layla. His body was surrounded by a white aura to protect him. Using as much power as he could call, Raven surrounded the house with a blue fire that kept the creatures away temporarily.

Jargos ignited his firepower, waiting
