"I'll be okay, Luna. My love, I shall never fall while you need me to come back" Kreig got up and went to her side



Jargos went and laid down next to her, curled up like a large dog

Layla pulled the book from her bag and shielded it from any drops of rain that came down. She opened it and read back over Raven's letter. "Luna doesn't understand what I can't tell her. And she isn't going to listen if we truly can confirm that the shadows are after the book."

"Do you think she is wrong in being hurt and scared?" Jargos asked "She's only doing what she thinks is right. It's hard to think about you having gone through all of the things you have, seeing as you don't look a day over 20"

"Well, that's true." Layla sighed. "I should've been there for her growing up. I wasn't even around much when my own daughter was growing up. Lunalia reminds me of her, and there's a lot of regrets that come with that. I can only hope that Luna understands the point I'm trying to get through."

"She's still learning, give her time, it will become clear" Jargos assured her



Kreig gave her a hug, then stood up to get some food

Layla sighed. "Maybe so. Maybe so."

Jargos nuzzled Layla



Kreig ate some bread, but he found he wasn't hungry. Against his will, his spine began to crack. He sighed, he knew his body was telling him it was time to go. More cracks, from various places in the body

Layla smiled. She opened the book to read through it, but the same thought appeared in her mind. "Do you really think it would be their target?"

"It could be" Jargos said, unsure


"Luna, I swear to you, I'll be back safely" Kreig spoke as he began to shift, lighting striking outside

Layla shifted uneasily. "I suppose we'll find out soon enough."


Luna sighed. Silent tears were running down her face. "Layla says that I'm this supposed key to freeing you from the Shadows. That I'm still a high threat to them and that they'll be after me and you. It just makes me nervous to think that you've become a prime target. We can't absolutely say that we can remove whatever possession they can hold."

"You don't give yourself enough credit" Kreig chuckled to her "If I get possessed, you could snap me out of if just by saying my name" He walked over to her to give her a great big hug, then he risked overdoing it by giving her a kiss

Luna's face turned a bright red. She didn't pull back from Kreig's embrace, silently caught in the moment of the sensation in the air.

Kreig was blushing violently, but he held her tighter. His body continued to shift, but rather slowly. Outside, a brutal storm was beginning

Thunder began to echo throughout the kingdom. This put Luna on edge quickly, but she didn't move from Kreig's side.


Layla was startled by the thunder and distant lightning. "We better go inside. Lest we take the chance of lightning striking."

Kreig broke the kiss and stood tall before dropping to his knees in pain from the shift. The truly agonizing parts came quickly



Jargos nodded to her and took her inside

Luna could hear Jargos and Layla coming up the hall, but she dared not speak a word to her close relative.


Layla settled back in the room and dried herself off from the bit of water that got on her. "That storm is terrible out there. It gives me a dark feeling, to be honest."

With a howl of pain, Kreig finished his transformation. He stood up and hugged Luna before turning to leave



Jargos waited in the hall

It was obvious that Luna felt a deep pain within her. "Bring him home, Gaea," she murmured.


After drying off, Layla packed the book back in the back and walked out to the hall. "I'm assuming you're wanting to start the plan now?" she asked Jargos quietly.

Kreig got into the hallway and nodded to Layla and Jargos before heading outside into the raging storm


"He's decided" Jargos spoke

Layla sighed. She said quietly, "Luna's going to have it hard until he comes back. I know how she feels. I won't deny that. But, she needs to understand some things." Layla glanced out a window in the hall. "Besides, we have to be just as worried about her as we are going to be for Kreig. If they learn that Luna can break their hold, they'll send a group after her. We'll have to watch her at all times."

Kreig was a lighting rod, and his Storm Diamond blood was super-charged. He was moving like lightning and an aura of crystalline sparks shot from him. He was hunting



Jargos nodded to her

Layla put a hand to the locket around her neck. "I often wondered if I should give this to her. There's not much that Madalyn left her, and she needs something to keep close to her heart. Luna is very strong, yes, but there's still much she has to learn. Still much I have to teach her with my vision back."

"Go talk to her, Layla, she needs you" Jargos urged



Kreig found stay shadows, but not the caster, or any powerful shadows. He was becoming impatient

Layla nodded and left to talk to Luna. With ease, Layla opened the door gently and shut it behind her.

"Hey, are you alright?" Layla asked. She sat beside Luna.

"Aside from my heart getting ripped out?" Luna turned from Layla's gaze.

"You know this was the only way to find out where the spell-caster is. Kreig can handle himself. I believe that. I know how you feel, Luna. You swear that I don't. I'm older than I appear to be, and you know this."

"You make life seem so easy. And that's what I hate. You were my idol as a child. Mother? She was great, but she wasn't like you. She told me stories about the heroes of Garlan. You and Jargos. She says that Grandfather Airen told her about all that you two had done."

"Life wasn't easy then and it still isn't now. You're letting your anger get the best of you and you need to understand the picture."

Luna felt uneasy. "I just don't know what else to do."

Layla walked over to the window and gazed outside. "I'll tell you what." She removed the necklace tied around her neck. "Promise me that you'll take care of this, and I'll give you my most prized possession. I have a feeling it'll teach you some things that I can't teach you right now." Layla tossed her locket to Luna.

Kreig was on a war path when an odd scent caught his nose. He began tracking the scent
