Destiny of Light

Layla watched Raven, hoping silently that he'd come back so they all could leave together; however, while Raven had his back turned, one tackled him from behind. Layla yelled out his name, hoping he'd come up from below the creatures on top of him. The flames were weakening.

Luna grabbed Layla's arm. "We need to go and now! If we don't, we'll be killed by all of them. Come on, Layla!" Layla turned back to Raven. He had managed to pull himself up above the creatures and called out something in Elven, in which Layla only understood. Within moments, Luna had her and Layla out already running toward the ocean by force. "Come on, guys!" Luna yelled.

Jargos and Kreig fought off a few, guarding the rear, but the were coming with Layla and Luna

The ocean was now in sight and not far off. Luna and Layla stopped at the edge. "Raiden's disappeared. We're trapped here if we can't operate his boat."

"Not quite, Luna. If you and the guys will cover me, I'll get us a ride without the boat." Layla didn't want to leave. Not with Raven having been left behind. She fought against her instinct to bring him with her, and she felt awful. With a sigh, she started focusing her powers.

Jargos and Kreig fought off the creatures in waves until Kreig collapsed and shifted down, his runes faintly glowing. Jargos covered for him, his experience really coming into play

On the edge of the water, an ice platform began to form. "This is going to take more than a little bit of magic to form. I'm going to need some time."

Luna drew her sword to attack incoming enemies. "Consider it done."

Kreig forced himself to stand and fight while Jargos went wild with attacks

Luna went to Kreig's side. "Kreig, you need rest or you'll overexert yourself. I'm here too, you know." She smiled and slashed at a shadow that was trying to attack. Luna did a set of combos, waiting for Layla to call when ready.

Kreig couldn't let himself stand by helplessly while his friends fought, he kept attacking

Layla was able to form a large ice platform. "We need to go now. There's too many of them coming. Let's move, people!" Luna joined in behind Layla.

Kreig and Jargos followed suit and Jargos made a wall of fire to keep them safe for the time being

Layla was able to get them moving off toward the direction of Garlan.

Luna let out a sigh of relief. "At least that's over."

Layla replied, "They can't follow us that fast over water; however, we're going to have to hope that the ice will hold together. It'll take a while to get to Garlan. Sure, it's faster than a boat. But it's going to come down mostly to if this will stay stable to make the full trip. I barely kept it moving midway through last time."

Jargos shifted down as Kreig passed out. Jargos was still growling at the island

Luna glanced off into the distance. "How long do you think it'll take them to catch us, Layla?"

"It'll be a few days now. At the moment, however, it's not at the top of my worries." Layla was concerned for Raven, who she was now almost positive had been killed in the fight. She brushed a tear from her face and focused back on concentration. It would take everything she had at her disposal to keep them moving.

Jargos relaxed a bit, but only just

Luna took the time to relax while they were on the ocean. Thunder could be heard in the distance and Layla calmed herself to the sounds of it. They soon were midway to Garlan and Layla was already feeling the strain of keeping the ice together.

Jargos was still on edge

Kreig was having nightmares again

Garlan was just coming into sight and Luna could see that Layla was very tense. "Just a little bit longer. Can you hold it together?"

Layla's breathing turned into short breaths as the pressure increased. "I don't exactly have a choice. Just be braced for anything at this point."

Jargos waited

Layla managed to get them to the docks in Garlan before the ice finally collapsed. It was already late in the afternoon and rain was coming down.

Jargos picked up Kreig and helped Layla onto land

Luna was close behind the group and walked beside Layla. Layla stated, "It's been a long time since I actually saw this place. It hasn't changed much if I remember correctly." The memory of the last time they were in Garlan had caused her to briefly forget that the rain was coming down.

Jargos led the way to the inn

A room was quickly rented out and Luna opted to split up like they had before. Layla seconded the idea. She wanted some time to talk to Jargos, regardless.

Jargos put Kreig on his bed, then went into his room to talk to Layla

Layla had already settled in and was looking through the bag that Raven had left for her. She found herself murmuring the same words that Raven had spoke before they left the island.
