Destiny of Light

As Kreig struck the shield, an earth-shaking thunder clap blasted through the area, the sound wave alone knocked down several trees. Once the dust settled, however, it was clear that Kreig's plan failed. He was being held up by the scruff of his neck by the man, and he was in his normal form. The man laughed and then used his free hand to stab Kreig, the blade stuck out from the right side of his chest, the man missed his mark

Luna immediately struggled against Layla. "Let me go!" she yelled.

"Luna, stay put!" Layla had finally had it. With a quick stomp of her foot, rocks formed around Luna's feet and kept her still. "This is how I normally avoid getting knocked over in tight combat, but I'm going to have to use it on you to keep you still."

"Let me go!" she stated again.

Layla shook her head. Speaking mentally to Jargos, she said, "Whether or not we help Kreig is up to you. I don't want to endanger Kreig or Luna. Or any of us, for that matter. If you think he can get out of there safely, I'll stand down. If you think otherwise, we can go out there and get him out."

Before Jargos could answer her, Kreig barked and his elbow caught the man in his temple. The man was caught completely off guard by Luna and Layla's fighting, He didn't even realize he didn't kill Kreig. With all his strength, he crushed the man's hand and stomped on his face, before staggering away, four inches of short sword sticking out of his chest


"Let Luna go, Layla, he needs her" Jargos spoke to her

Layla nodded. Twisting her hand, the rocks released Luna. Luna had pushed Layla aside to get to Kreig.

Kreig was stumbling and he couldn't speak, but he sensed Luna was coming




Jargos nodded to Layla and went to collect the man

Luna had wanted to embrace Kreig, but her fear of hurting him was high. "Kreig, just... Just let me heal you." She couldn't find the words to speak. Her hands were already glowing a green color, signifying her medical abilities were active.

Layla was watching silently from the distance. Seeing Luna and Kreig reminded her of the first time that she and Jargos had taken on Balthazar.

Kreig nodded sleepily, then he lifted his arm up to reach behind him to take the sword out


Jargos picked up the man and a blast from the past hit him.

"Layla, get over here, please!!" Jargos called out

Luna was already focusing her magic on his chest to heal him. "Just lay down. Just lay down and let me heal you." She was trying to avoid going into tears. Luna had never been an excellent medic, but letting her emotions get to her was the one way that she knew her powers would fail.

Layla came out of her trance and quickly ran over to Jargos. "What is it?"

Kreig pulled the sword out and fell down. The storm was letting up



Jargos held the man's face up to Layla

"See anything?"

Luna focused all her magic into her hands and placed her hands above the wound. She closed her eyes, concentrating as hard as she could. Healing magic normally did not take much energy to use, but Luna was focusing as hard as she possibly could. "I won't let go of you, Kreig." Luna was attempting to be as calm as she could but her hands were shaking.

Layla looked over the face of the man. "For the love of Gaea... I don't believe it. Does he look like some sort of descent of Balthazar to you, or am I going insane?" Layla knelt down beside Jargos to examine him. "I'll be da**ed..."

"I-I'll be okay, Luna. You can heal a-anything, I know you-u can" Kreig reassured her. Even when he was bleeding out, he was thinking of her



Jargos nodded to her

"What should we do?" Jargos was uncharacteristically worried

Luna continued focusing her magic. She refused to stop until he was fully healed.

Layla was in shock. "I don't even know what we should do. We killed Balthazar about a hundred years ago. I never knew the guy had a legacy going on. I mean, we couldn't have done anything about it, obviously, but to think that he's got a descendant of some sort that's out for us..."

His wound was healing quickly, and soon, it would be healed completely. Kreig's hand went to Layla's arm to comfort her


Jargos didn't know what was going on

"I think it's best if we stay ut here tonight. We can't leave him to get up and walk away, but we can't bring him to Garlan, not until we're sure of what we're dealing with, and we're sure we can break the spell"

Luna's concentration was starting to drop as she began to get dizzy. She kept going as long as she could.

Layla nodded. "That's probably a good idea. If he's anything like Balthazar, then we're in for some trouble." Layla looked over to Luna, seeing her healing Kreig. Layla whispered, "She's using too much at once and is currently running the risk of causing herself to black out. Luna doesn't realize it, but her emotions are causing this. She needs to keep them under control. If she blacks out, her powers will level back out and she'll be fine. It's not like it's going to hurt her. But, she still needs to learn how to balance herself."

Kreig finished healing and got up on all fours to stretch


Jargos nodded to her, then got up to start making a camp

In the meantime, Layla walked over to Luna. "You did good today, Luna. Just remember to balance your powers or you'll weaken yourself much more quickly." Layla pulled an apple from a nearby tree. "Eat some fruit and your strength will return a little faster."

Kreig nuzzled and supported Luna
"I'm sorry, Luna. I really am. Please forgive me"


Jargos found a cave close by, and after bathing it in flames to kill of anything dangerous, as well as heat up the place, he called for Layla and the others

Luna could only hug Kreig. Layla smiled. "I think that's your answer." She laughed a bit. "Everyone's okay and that's surely good news. Let's head back to Jargos. I hear him calling." Luna nodded.

Kreig picked Luna up and started heading to Jargos



Jargos made a good fire for them, and the cave was toasty. The man was KO'd just outside the cave, waiting to be bound. Jargos greeted Layla with a hug and a kiss on the cheek. He was feeling more comfortable showing her his feelings of affection since their kiss


"I'll go get us some food, then be right back" He told Layla

Layla nodded. "Alright." She laid down on the floor of the cave next to the fire and relaxed a bit.

"Layla, are you okay?" Luna asked. She could sense some sort of concern coming off of her.

"Yeah, but after seeing the face of your worst enemy's descendant I think you'd be a little concerned too."

Kreig tore part of the man's skirt to use to bind him



Jargos was hunting a deer

Layla pulled the book from her bag to read through it. She wondered if Raven had recorded the story she told him about Balthazar.

Kreig felt really bad. He didn't keep his promise to Luna, and with that sword sticking out of his back, he didn't know if he would have made it back to the inn



Jargos succeeded in his hunt, and brought dinner back for everyone

Layla continued reading.

Luna watched as Kreig tied up the strange man. She waved when Jargos came back.

Kreig finished up after Jargos got back, then helped him make a spit for the deer
