Destiny of Light

Luna was back upstairs and greeted Kreig when he came in.

He was blushing, but waved to her

With everyone on their own business, Layla left to see Raven on the status of her health. She hoped Jargos would be there, but she didn't want to bother him. Upon arrival to Raven's house, she said, "Master Raven, may I come in?"

"Of course, dear. You're always welcome here." Raven was seen meditating while levitating. He stood up and walked over to her. "What's seems to be the matter?"

"I need to talk to you. About something that happened prior to arrival."

Jargos was close behind Layla
"Layla . . ."


"So, what's up?" Kreig asked Luna

"What has happened, Layliana? I could sense trouble when you came, but I didn't ask."

"Before we came here, I came into contact with the shadow creatures you had seen in your visions. They didn't do any harm to me aside from scratches," Layla rubbed her hand over her arm. "However, Kreig had been infected with one of their thorns. I destroyed it and had to absorb it's power before it went into Kreig's system. Raiden has reason to believe it could remove the magic that is holding together my ability of immortality."

"This is very possible. Magic as high class as this can be extremely dangerous. I read about it once long ago. Left untouched, the creatures could tamper with your magic and ultimately the structure of it. And that does put the magic protecting you at risk."

"Just browsing around. There's so much here I didn't know that Grandmother even had. It's incredible."

Jargos knocked on the outside wall near the doorway


"What kind of things? Books?" Kreig asked

Raven heard the sounds outside. "You may come in if you wish, you know."

"Is there any possible way of removing the entity, Master?"

"I can try whatever I can think of. I want to avoid a power-stripping potion at all costs. Without your magical protection, you'd die within about... I'd say three days of losing the spell. And that's at the least. I cannot guarantee anything, and I'm sure you're aware of that."

"Of course."

"Books, scrolls, paintings. All sorts of things. I know there's a painting of her and Grandfather downstairs. I'm surprised she still has it."

Jargos entered


"That was your grandfather in the painting? Whoa"

Raven nodded to Jargos in greeting. "Layliana talked much of you after she came here. Glad to see you two are finally together."

Layla turned away a little bit. Slightly blushing, she said, "That's a bit of an exaggeration."

"More like an understatement." He laughed

Jargos hugged her, then sat down

"For now," Raven stated. "Get some rest for today and we'll start at dawn tomorrow. All of you had a long trip here and a long journey ahead. There's nothing I can really do until morning."

Layla had properly thanked Raven and walked outside. It was mid afternoon.

Jargos got up slowly, then went outside

Layla left the home and went off to the coast. She felt a bit down over the whole process of getting the Shadows out of her. Layla didn't want to go through with it, but she honestly had no choice.

"Are you mad at me . . ." Jargos asked her timidly

"I have no reason to be." Layla sighed. "I'm just nervous. I'd rather be out trying to find the source of the threat heading for the lands overseas than concerned about my own health. Whether or not I leave the situation as it is, I'm still at risk of losing more than my powers. I'm just hoping Master can find a solution. And, if not, then I've already come to a decision as to what I'm going to do if his plan doesn't work."

". . ." Jargos couldn't manage words


Kreig was looking at Luna

"If the plan fails," she paused, unable to find the right words. "If it fails, I'm using the potion. I need my vision back to go through all of my documents that I've collected. There's got to be something that can help fight the Shadows. I won't give up searching. There's got to be some sort of resistance. Some sort of source. I don't know where to start, but I've got more papers than I know is back in my village."

Jargos wanted to tell her no, that she couldn't take the potion, but it wasn't his choice. He knew that he would outlive his loved ones, he had another century or two in him still. This was for her to decide, all he could do was support her in any way possible

Layla hugged Jargos. Tears ran down her face. "I promise that, tomorrow, Raven and I will do all we can. I didn't want to put Kreig through this. He's too young, and he still has his destiny to fulfill. Luna still has a long road ahead of her and so do you."

"You are my family, Layla, and I will honor whatever you chose"

Layla pulled back from Jargos. She was afraid and she didn't want to show it. Leaving her statement in silence, she turned back to the ocean and formed spheres of water with her hands.

Jargos sat down next to her, then laid back

Layla finally sat down and laid back on the sandy beach. A faint outline of the moon could be seen as the sun was setting.

Are my days really numbered, Airen? she asked in her thoughts. A gentle breeze went by that brought her some comfort.

Sleep soon found Jargos


Kreig couldn't understand what was going on in his head whenever he got near Luna, but he knew he liked it, confusing as it was
"Do you mind if I meditate a bit?" He asked

Layla couldn't sleep. Tomorrow's events had her on edge.

"Go on ahead. I see no problem with it."
