Destiny of Light

"You were very powerful, and I once doubted that there could be anyone more powerful. Hearing that it's possible that Kreig could be is both amazing and a bit scary to think about. If word gets back to the spell-caster of the shadows, they'll be after the chance to take control of any of us. Most likely you or him."

Luna put her hand over Kreig's. "Of course not, Kreig. You are who you are, and that's what I love about you."

"I'll reach the apex of my power soon, but I don't know if it will be enough. His might is extraordinary, if he were to be controlled, it would take all three of us to stop him, and I doubt we would all survive."



"I-I haven't ever been able to s-stop thinking of you . . . Not since I met you . . ." He was blushing as he fell asleep

"I have a feeling of what could stop him, but it would take a miracle to get him to his sense enough to recognize it." Layla sat back down on the bed to think a little bit. She sighed. "Still, it's a risk. We'll need to watch our backs. In the mean time, we need to be thinking about what to do next."

Luna immediately started blushing at Kreig's statement before he went unconscious.

"What do you mean?" Jargos asked


Kreig slept soundly

"If Kreig cares about Luna deeply enough, then he won't attack her. Even if he's possessed, he'll have some resistance." She crossed her arms and sat back against the wall while on the bed. "Hurting Luna is the last thing Kreig wants. Think about it for a second."

Jargos thought back to the last words he heard Kreig speak

"I agree. If he were ever possessed and she stood up to him, no force imaginable could make him hurt her. He's in love, that's how he awakened his power so early. He wasn't supposed to even be able to transcend his human strength for years to come, but because his desire to protect her is so great, he did so anyway. And then he unleashed greater power when he felt he made a mistake that endangered her"

"If in the case he's possessed in the days to come, our main goal, firstly, is to make sure Luna stays safe. If the shadows obtain both of them, we might as well be screwed."

"Agreed. But does she feel the same? Were she ever possessed, would she stop herself before hurting him? I'll admit, I wasn't paying full attention to her feelings, I was more concerned with getting all of us out of the forest before more shadows came" Jargos felt a little embarrassed that he had to ask, but he wanted to know "Has she ever talked about him to you?"

"Luna doesn't talk to me about Kreig. That's something she keeps to herself. But, I don't know if she'd be able to stop herself from hurting him. Luna doesn't have the kind of fighting experience that all of us have. She's a Medic. Not a Warrior; however, it does give her some sort of upper hand. Medics are trained to heal first. Not to fight."

"He would never fight her, but her being a Medic is an advantage" Jargos agreed "We should try to rest. It's only noon, but we need time to recover" He paused "And we need food. I'll go get us all some. I'll be back soon" He got up to leave

Layla nodded. "Watch your back. We don't know how many of them are out there."

"I'll be safe, I promised you" He said as he walked out the door

After Jargos had left, Layla pulled the book from her bag and started reading through it.

Jargos went into the town and spent the last of his money on food. Steaks, breads, fruits, vegetables, and boar chops. He delivered food to Luna for her and Kreig, then took Layla and his half to their room


Kreig stirred lightly, murmuring in his sleep

Layla put the book away upon the arrival of Jargos. "Raven wrote in here saying that he was even unsure as to who could possibly summon the shadows; however, he does write that finding the source through the shadows is possible. It's just the matter of avoiding getting killed. Easier said than done, huh?" She laughed a bit under breath. "Nutty teacher."

"Agreed" Jargos said as he set up their food


Kreig began to wake up

Luna smiled gently as Kreig woke up. "Jargos brought some food to eat. You feeling up to some lunch?"

Kreig's body make the same sounds Jargos' made, the creaking and popping, but once that was done and he was in a sitting position, he nodded

"Luna?"

Luna came beside Kreig. "Yeah?" she replied.

"I love you" He said. He was blushing, but he looked into her eyes "I swear to always do my best to protect you"

Luna started blushing immensely. Something at the moment had made her start to realize that she did have true feelings for Kreig. She put her hand to the side of her face. "I was really unsure of my feelings. But, I know that now I'd rather be beside you than anywhere else."

"I'm so glad" He told her. He held her free hand

Layla started eating lunch after it was prepared. She wanted to start planning their next move, but she didn't even know where to start.

Kreig didn't mind not eating and just staying where he was with Luna, he had forgotten all about food


Jargos ate to regain his strength

After Layla had finished, she walked to sit on the windowsill. "I just can't think of what to do next."

Luna put her head on Kreig's shoulder.
