"Calm yourself, Jargos, You underestimate Kreig, your heir" The aged wold said



Kreig's movements became a hurricane, until finally, one shadow struck him down. He crashed through a tree, toppling it over

Luna stepped forward to go down below but Layla held her arm out. She knew that Luna needed to wait. Layla turned to Jargos, silently asking what they should do.

Jargos was about to move forward himself until the sky darkened above. Monstrous thunder clouds seeming formed out of nowhere. Jargos' eyes became wide and he looked down to where Kreig should have been, and saw he was gone. The aged wolf nodded to himself

Luna was in immediate shock. She yelled out Kreig's name. Layla was about to have to force Luna from jumping over the edge to get down below.

Luna's call was answered with an earth shaking thunder clap, the bolt of lighting responsible slammed down in the middle of the shadows. When the smoke cleared, Kreig was standing in the crater in his predatory form, his runes looking like solid diamond veins, his fangs and claws looked like diamond icicles, and his eyes like diamond orbs. He howled out, the new Lord of Darkwoods had been born. With bestial fury, he rampaged through the shadow creatures


Jargos' jaw was wide open, as looked in disbelief at what he was seeing

Luna and Layla were almost frozen in place with shock. "I'm not the only one seeing this, I hope." Layla looked to Luna, knowing she wasn't the only one.

And with that, the aged wolf took his leave

Jargos took a step forward to get a better look

Kreig was annihilating the shadow creatures

Layla and Luna soon came down from their shocked state to fully realize what was going on. "This is almost unbelievable."

Kreig howled out one last time after finishing them off. He breathed heavily, then looked up to see the others. He walked over to the cliff, and using his diamond claws, began to climb up


"He is . . ." Jargos tried to speak, but words escaped him

Luna was speechless as she saw Kreig coming up from below.

"Not only does he have the most blessed and sacred Lunar Rune, he also has the power of the Storm Diamond. This is unreal! Only the first Lord of Darkwoods had these both" Jargos told them


Kreig was about halfway up the cliff

Layla asked, "How is that even possible?"

"There are five great lineages in Darkwoods. Fury Fang. Dark Claw. Flame Roar. Silver Fur. and Storm Diamond. Before the times of the runes, the five lineages were at war. Then, a nameless warrior from the Storm Diamond Lineage came forward, and with his astounding power, came into rule of all the lineages. But rather than go to war, he demanded a ceasefire. Shortly after, elders came forth with knowledge of Runes. To show his people he was worthy, he accepted the Lunar Rune, and with it, he calmed the fighting. Soon, runes were a birthright to all the people of Darkwoods" Jargos stated, hoping Layla would translate so Luna could understand


Kreig was almost to the top

Layla translated as best she could and Luna was rather shocked. She looked over the edge and was Kreig was almost at the top.

Kreig made it to the top of the cliff where the others were, and immediately went and hugged Luna

"I'm so glad you're alright," Luna said quietly. Layla walked over to Jargos and spoke only in whispers. "I get the small feeling that the two have feelings for one another. What do you think?"

"Only a small feeling?" Jargos asked


Kreig heard, but said nothing. He began to shift down to his normal form. He broke the hug only to fall to his knees, exhausted

"I felt a darkness in me . . . it receded when I transformed . . . I came out here to fight and force a transformation . . . When I sensed you were coming, I felt like a fool . . . I sensed that if I failed, you would be in danger . . ."

Layla laughed a bit under her breath. "Okay, maybe a little more than a feeling. I start to think back and kind of wonder if we ever looked like this," she spoke quietly. "I can honestly say that, when Airen died, I know that I started to realize just how much I longed to be back by your side. Of course, I expected my own death to happen before I got that far. I went from mortal, to immortal, and then back to mortal in a hundred years."

Luna sat on her knees in front of Kreig. "I don't care what happens, Kreig. I won't leave you." She put her hand to the side of his face. "No matter what."

"I'm sure we did" Jargos said "I'm sure we did"



He held her hand to his face
"I will always do my best to protect you, Luna . . ." Kreig slowly began to pass out, He needed rest

Luna quickly caught Kreig before he blacked out. "Layla, Jargos, lets get him back to the inn. He's about to black out."

Jargos nodded and picked him up, then began to head back to Garlan and the inn

Layla followed beside Jargos and Luna stayed close behind them.

Once back at the inn, Jargos payed and put Kreig down on his bed before heading to his room. Jargos' mind was spinning. Kreig's power was the key to save the world, yet he felt as if there was still something to fear.


Kreig tried to stay awake long enough to ask Luna something when she got into the room

Layla walked back into the room that she and Jargos' stayed in the previous night. She put the book back on the bed to where she could keep it safe. "I'm about as shocked as you are about all of this."

Luna walked into the room after Jargos had left. She sat beside Kreig while he was still conscious.

"I could never have imagined he would be this strong. He'll be stronger than I could ever become even if he never trains. His power is beyond my comprehension. I don't even know if we saw all that he could do today" Jargos told her



"Luna . . . Are you mad at me . . ." Kreig asked
