Destiny of Light

Kreig smiled and nodded, then sat down and closed his eyes. After a few deep breaths, all of his runes began to glow a soft blue, the brightness increasing slowly. Calling forth his primal energy, he let the color of his runes become a crimson

Luna watched carefully.

Kreig let his energy flow out of his body and encircle his red crescent moon shapes. With great focus, he was able to summon the Ancient Spirits, who, this time, took the form of a werewolf like being

"Greetings, Honored Ones" Kreig spoke in the language of beasts, but because his energy was in the room, Luna could catch parts of what he was saying

Luna was a bit shocked. She hadn't ever seen a spirit before. She followed courtesy and bowed to the spirits.

The Spirits noticed Luna and bowed elaborately, knowing without a word who she was.

"What bothers you, my child?" The Spirits spoke with the voice of a woman

"This threat, Great Ones, I fear, is too much. I feel unready for such a task, yet I wish to help. I'm so confused"

"The power lies within you, my son, all you need do is ask" the Spirits chuckled

"But will I be a burden or a savior?" He implored

"That is for you to decide"

After being unable to rest, Layla returned home. Hearing voices upstairs, she stayed downstairs and lit the fireplace. On the outside, she felt warm; however, on the inside, she was freezing from her uncertainty and confusion.

"I thank thee, Ancient Ones"

"Thou art welcome, Kreig"

The energy slowly flowed back into Kreig's body, then he passed out on the floor

Luna immediately pulled Kreig onto one of the beds. "I swear..." she said, laughing a bit. She walked downstairs. "How did it go with Raven? I'm almost positive you talked to him."

"If the material isn't removed from my system soon, then my days are going to be limited. I've heard that statement more than once."

Both men slept

Luna couldn't exactly say anything. Layla stood up and walked upstairs. "I'm heading to bed. I've got to be up early tomorrow." She soon went to sleep. Luna eventually did as well.

Jargos awoke long enough to make it to the front of the house, but he never made it inside

Dawn soon came. Layla had already been up for a very short period of time. She got changed into a light, blue dress while everyone was asleep. Leaving her staff behind, she was about to walk out the door until she saw Jargos. "You nut-head..." she said, almost laughing aloud. Layla gently pulled him inside to the fireplace and got ready to head out.

Jargos slept like a rock


Kreig had nightmares in the early hours of the morning

Layla headed out the door to Raven's home. He was waiting patiently.

"Are you sure you want to go through with this? You're taking a fair share of risks here."

"Right now, I'm not wiling to lose everything I have. These last few years of my life I've felt pain and nothing else. I refuse to handle much more of it now that I've got the one thing back that I've been waiting all this time for."

"Then you're definitely ready. I'll do all I can. You'll have to be asleep or you'll fight back any magic I use. Are you alright with that? It's just an average thing. You'll naturally fight back any outside force when you're awake."

Layla nodded. She laid back on a blanket that sat in front of a small fire in the main room. Raven put an herbal liquid on her upper chest and wrists. The scent soon calmed her down and the herbs put her to sleep. "I promise I'll do all I can."

Jargos awoke as Layla drifted off, and without realizing it, he got up and went to be outside Raven's house

Raven could hear footsteps outside his door. "I sensed your arrival. Enter if you wish. I've only just started." A multi-colored aura started to surround his right hand as he was removing the bandages on Layla's arm. "There's some food on the table. I figured you'd want some breakfast as well. We don't have much wildlife here, being that most of us grow crops, but we do hunt from time to time. Carefully, however, to avoid extinction of any animal on the island."

Jargos nodded to him, then looked to Layla
He was terrified, but didn't show it


Kreig awoke with a start, then tried to calm himself

Raven started performing all sorts of magic on Layla's body, but it was nearing almost impossible to get any result at all. His powers were becoming over-stressed and he knew he'd have to come to a stopping point for the moment to take a breather.

"I don't understand. I just don't understand at all! It's not responding to hardly anything I do." He pinched his temples in aggravation. "This girl is going to need a guardian angel if I can't get much further.

Jargos was unable to think about anything other than her
She was family to him, she saved his life more than once, and now she was in danger, but he could do nothing to help her



Kreig was finally able to pull himself together and after a while, went outside so as not to disturb Luna, the woman he was falling for

Raven sighed. He gazed at the village crest on Layla's arm for a moment, searching for an idea. Anything that could lead him to a cure of some sort.

"I wonder... Yes, I think I might have a solution after all. Jargos, Layliana is from Zeiza, correct? The elves that believe in the Earth Spirit, Gaea?"

Luna was sleeping quietly, but definitely concerned still from the events from the night before.

Jargos nodded at him, puzzled



Kreig got some fresh air, but his mind felt hazy, as if he couldn't grasp what was happening, yet he knew it all too well. Something told him that he had a darker side to himself, and he didn't like that idea. He felt as if whispers of evil were coming to him from all sides

Raven smiled. "I know what I can do." He immediately pulled a book off one of his shelves and opened it to a page when he sat back down. "I recorded much of the stories that Layliana told me about Zeiza when she came. One thing she told me was a summoning. Only to be used in emergencies. I think now is the right time." Raven spoke the chant in the book, though it wasn't his native language. It was the language of the elves, which Raven knew enough knowledge about to speak. Within moments, a white ball of light, a spirit, floated in mid-air.

Jargos looked at the spirit, his heart pleading for it to help her. His runes glowed a light blue



Kreig tried to shake the feeling of darkness off, but it didn't work. Depressed, he began to walk around the island

Raven smiled to Jargos and then spoke the elven tongue once more to the spirit. The spirit responded and took a human form. Though not tangible, the spirit took on the form of a woman in a green dress and brunette hair. She only had to touch Layla's hand to know that Jargos was a friend to her. "Greeting, Jargos. I am no enemy to you, I can promise, and Raven summoned me here to tend to a situation that I see was worth calling me." The spirit smiled. "In the elven races' belief, my name is Gaea. I'm their chosen deity and guardian."

Jargos bowed deeply, then released his energy into the room, pouring it from his runes so that those in the area could have a grasp of what he spoke

"I am honored to be known to thee" He spoke in the language of beasts, but his energy made him somewhat understandable "I beg of thee, aid her. I shall assist thine effort in any way" There was a waiver of fear and pain in his voice




Kreig walked and walked, trying to empty his mind
