Jargos heard this and stopped. That was exactly what he didn't want to hear

When Raiden had finished Layla stood up to face him. "Raiden, Lunalia may be family to me but Jargos means a lot to me. He was closer to me than my late husband was. If anything were to happen to either of them, I'd do anything to stop it. I chose my path because I wanted to find Jargos once more. Because, if it hadn't have been for that one day, I'd be dead. I know I've lived considerably longer than I should have. I'm still running from Death itself. But I'll stand in front of all of them if their lives were threatened. I've put Jargos' safety in front of my own since we first met. And I'll continue to do it until something finally stops me. I didn't stand down to Balthazar, I didn't stand down to the Shadows. I kept going because I know I still have things to learn. From Jargos. He's taught me just as much as Master has."

"You really care about this guy, don't you?"

"Jargos means a lot to me. He's become more than a friend to me. He's felt like family."

Raiden sighed. "You really need to talk to Raven about the attacking. To make sure you get that mess out of your system before it does any serious damage."

"Right now, our top priority is finding out what we're up against and stopping it. We're talking about a kingdom here, and their fate outweighs my health. I can tell you that now."

Jargos walked down the stairs, his footfalls making the house move ever so slightly. He nodded to Raiden and walked over next to Layla

"Well, if that's what you'd rather do, Layla, then it's not my decision to change your mind. I'll go report back to Raven." Raiden left the building, leaving Jargos and Layla to themselves.

Jargos got close to Layla's ear
"Please. Take care of yourself. Just this once, I beg you"



Kreig began to dream, but this was unpleasant. Luna was locked in battle with the shadows, and try as Kreig might, all his feral strength proved futile. His rage boiled over and he exploded with primal fury, but a shooting pain shot through him, center of his chest. He fell and watched in horror as Luna was struck down by a shadowy being. He couldn't move, he felt his life draining away

Layla wanted to object, but Jargos' words sounded pretty sensitive to her. "I'll talk to Master Raven and see if he knows anything about it." Layla was aware that there was a chance that the entity she had absorbed could start eating away at her magic. It seemed likely. "You heard everything, didn't you?"

He gently put his hands on her shoulders
"I'm an animal, I can whispers down at the docks" He spoke again "Kreig wouldn't want you to die for him"

"Kreig is the next proper heir to the position of leader in the Darkwoods, and he still has much to learn. So does Lunalia. I can't teach Luna anything as far as magic is concerned because it's not the style she needs to learn. She doesn't need to know how to fight in the way I do. I won't let anything stand in the way of their destinies. I know Luna will surpass me if her powers come out the way I expect they will. I was not supposed to live past my thirties because of an illness I couldn't foresee. And now that I have the chance to finally get around it, I'm taking advantage of it to do what I've always wanted to. And that's learn as much as I can. Of course, I've had some limitations but I haven't let that stop me yet."

"Just promise me . . ." He paused for a moment, biting back tears "Just have Raven try to get rid of it"

"He'll do what he can. That's all I can say." Layla could sense a certain tension rising and it had an uncomfortable feel to it. "We need to go see him regardless."

"Thank you" He said before he walked outside

Luna came downstairs, seeing that there was nothing else for her to really look at. "What's going on?" she asked.

Layla walked outside without a word, not wanting to speak more of the discussion that happened before her entry.

Jargos had disappeared in a blur of speed to scout the island


Kreig was still having a nightmare about Luna

Layla sighed. She walked back to the coast to sit at the water's edge. Arriving back at Nicca had caused some uneasiness to occur. She was unsure as to what they could do now with an enemy rising that they didn't really understand.

Jargos couldn't find much game, he knew he couldn't stay here long

After a short time, Layla decided to check up on Kreig. She wanted to make sure he was well before they did much more on the island.

Kreig was fitful and he ached. His rage was boiling over

When Layla entered the cabin, she could tell Kreig was uncomfortable. "Kreig, come on. Wake up. You're okay." She shook his shoulder slightly.

He awoke with a start, but calmed himself

"What happened? . . . Last night . . . Luna! Where is she?!" He got up quickly

"Easy, Kreig. She's fine. Luna's back at my home. After I got that thorn out of your system, you were out cold. We decided to let you rest here, but if you're feeling up to it then you can come with me back to my place."

He sighed in relief, then realized how he sounded super concerned and blushed furiously

"I-I Um . . . That's good. I'll come with you"

Layla laughed a bit. "You know, you don't have to be afraid of telling me anything if there's something you don't want to tell her." Layla was catching on to the fact that Kreig had a crush on her. She led the way to her home and told Kreig to rest if he needed it.

"That would be rude of me . . ." He stated before entering the house. His lunar runes were glowing a crystal blue

"Seeing as I've got more than enough room here, there's a place for everyone upstairs. Don't think it rude." She tried to think of a way to keep Kreig from denying. "Think of it this way. Most people think that when given an opportunity from someone, such as a place to stay, you should follow proper courtesy and go along with it. That's what I was told. Got me out of a couple of spots I ran into growing up."

He nodded to her, then found a bed to rest in
