Misunderstood Destinies

"Oh, dost thou speakth of the Monstrosity? The massive beast, stronger than any other animal, able to tear a man on twade with a mere thought? The beast thou chased off single handedly?" He asked back


The knights were scared, the the man with the black cloak was not tricked. He stepped forward with his rapier in hand. Jargos had been more intimidated by a spider he found in his soup once and walked past to bow to the fair Elf

Layliana bowed back respectively. "It appears so," she said. "Do you know of this creature?" She was laughing inside.

"Aye, I have met it once. He almost rent my body asunder, but I was able to escape in the lake. The beast stood twice my size, with horrible fangs and cold, black eyes." He turned to face the man with the cloak who was shaking, but only because he knew Jargos was describing his true form. He shook it off and held his rapier up.


"I know your nature, monster! You speak lies! YOU ARE THE MONSTROSITY Of Which You Speak!" He stated

Layliana growled a bit under her breath. "If you want to fight such a creature, you'd have to be able to beat me first. And how are you so sure its him? For all you could know, you silly knights, he could be a friend of this creature. Or even I could. Would you want me to summon this beast to eat the flesh off your skinny bones? Or me? The man behind you is quite plump, and I ate quite light tonight." She used magic to conjure an illusion in which would give her an appearance of fangs instead of regular teeth.

Jargos held his hand his hand up to the Elf. He had a small grin and stepped forward. The man in the cloak had turned his blade on the Elf, but moved it quickly back to Jargos.


"You, good sir knight, must rest. The hour is later than thou believes and even if what thein lips say is true, thou has lost back up" Jargos motioned behind the man in the cloak where the knights were standing terrified. Jargos held back the urge to kill this man on the spot

Layliana drew her Staff back and leaned up on it. "I best recommend you run away, sir." She made a biting motion playfully.

The man in the cloak turned and called his knights to mount up and follow him back. Jargos sighed a breath of relief then turned to face the Elf


"Twice now, thou has saved my life. There must be something one could do to repay such a debt?" Jargos asked

"If you really are determined to repay me, despite my reasoning for no need of it, then in due time you'll find your own way. I won't ask you do it." Layliana smiled. The glowing of her eyes stopped. She bowed. "Surely, they will be back one day. But it is a day they'll have to get through me to succeed." She extended her staff in a defensive position and then drew it back.

He smiled, then looked around. He was a bit hungry again, but mostly he was sleepy. He leaned up against a tree to rest a bit

"I have food at the inn and money to buy more should you wish to eat dinner. I can tell you are used to that which the forest offers, but I do not mind sharing what I've obtained with gold."

Jargos smiled, then nodded.


"I shall repay thee someday" He chuckled

She laughed. "I will bring you some food. It's better than having to chase down boars and such. Though, I am sure you could outrun them."

As the Elf blinked, he disappeared and reappeared a few feet away. He chuckled and bowed

"You are quite strange, though I do respect that." She laughed a bit. "I don't know truly who you are, or why you are here, but I do understand that you're not a threat to me. If you want, call me Layla. I normally let very few address me as that, but you're different from many others I know." She smiled.

"Thou art kind, Layla. I have no business here, but I am too worn out to make the voyage home yet. I fear my body is weak compared to how it should be"

"If my village wasn't so far, I'd seek Elder Raymona to help you. Perhaps we could restore your energy."

"Nay, sleep shall restore me in time." Jargos still didn't tell her that he had been starved and sleep deprived for a week. it was a miracle he could stand at all.

"Are you sure? If you need proper recovery, we can offer it at Zeiza. Naturally, outsiders are not allowed in. But, seeing the circumstances, I can let you in with ease."

He was too proud to admit he needed help, seeing as she had already saved him twice. he merely smiled and offered to let Layla lead the way back to town

Layla accepted the offer. "I rented a cabin for two nights. My powers may be restoring but it won't be enough to lead me home to Zeiza. Zeiza is protected by a magical barrier. Only those that know how to break its protection can enter the gate. If you wish to come with me, I will open the barrier for you. However, I must forewarn the Elders. They may be gaining age on them, but they are the most powerful out of all of our people for this generation. I aim to match them one day.

"Tis a splendid goal, Layla. In my homeland, I am the most powerful of my people, but for every physical aspect in which I am superior, my abilities in magic and skills lack luster. The only magic my people practice are runes. I fear, that makes us easy prey for mages with magic that can control minds." He stated, feeling obliged, seeing as she was sharing so much.


Once they made it to the town, there were knights patrolling the streets

Layla started to enter the city gates. "I can't perform that same spell to free you constantly. I will attempt contact with home tonight. Perhaps I can get you a helping hand."

Layla began to watch for the knights.

"Thou won't have to concern thy self with it" Jargos told her as the quietly made their way to the inn.

The two quickly made it to the inn. Food was sitting out on the table, though it had gotten cold in the hours Layla had been gone. "Allow me." She flicked her hand as a flame of fire appeared on her finger. She touched the logs in the fireplace and they lit a blaze.

"Such skill! It is a wonderful art, magic" Jargos looked around, wondering.
