Misunderstood Destinies (2)

Layla soon fell asleep. She felt more than safe next to Jargos. When the two were ready to leave, she planned to set destination to Zeiza and properly have Jargos properly welcomed to Zeiza and watch her Mother's joining of the leader ranks of the village.

Jargos awoke slowly, but his stomach was louder than his breathing. He needed food and needed it fast. He got up and started to hunt

Layla continued to sleep next to the warmth of the fire.

Jargos hunted down and devoured a boar and a deer, then made his way back to the mini-camp to sleep. He brought some fire wood with him and tended the fire before passing out next to Layla

The fight from before came as flashes to Layla as she slept, though it didn't bother her now that everything was over. She saw the visions that the silver wolf saw, and she now understood what Jargos had done to save her.

He dreamed of more comforts he denied himself, but he knew that they would come in time

Layla saw the Silver Wolf once more approach her in her dreams.

"Consider yourself lucky, child. Your friend nearly gave everything to save you like you tried to do for him."

"I'll continue to show him kindness, even if someone gives me reason to think otherwise."

"You truly believe in him, don't you?"

Layla nodded. "I stand by him. He's my friend. A friend, a hero, and a life saver."

"And he will be given proper treatment from your people to represent this."

With that, everything faded black as Layla smiled. She slept through the rest of the evening as night approached.

Jargos slept as well. He slowly began to stir into life as the sun went down and the full moon shone brightly above them. He muscles and bones made more odd sounds than usual in his true form

When the moon began to come up, and night had fully risen over past evening, Layla started to wake up. Stretching, she felt refreshed compared to the last few days she had spent preparing for the battle in her home.

Jargos stretched as he got up. He looked around and took a deep breath. Then offered a hand to Layla to help her up

Layla smiled. She accepted and stood up with his aid. Glancing back up the mountain, the fog had cleared at the peak and now was open to travel. "You have something waiting for you back home. Shall we go?"

"Hm? What's waiting for me up there other than people angry that I slaughtered the Guards and Warriors?" He chuckled a bit, but did feel really bad for killing them, but they would have tried to kill him and Layla if he didn't stop them

"I spoke with the villagers, and with the leader's aid, who is now my mother, they won't attack you. I'll explain everything when we get there."

"How long was I out? I must've missed a ton"

"I don't know when you ran off. When I came back to consciousness, I sent a sphere to search your trail. It did successfully find you. With Airen's assistance and Mother's, I was able to open Zeiza back to the world like it should be."

"That sounds good to me, let's go, we're almost there"

Jargos kept walking and soon the village was in sight

Airen stood at the gate, guarding it like he was meant to. Layla kept a straight face, showing little emotion for the exception of anger towards Airen.

Jargos walked into the village and saw the mess he left. He was ashamed

Clean up was being done. Theresa was seen helping with the repairs. When she spotted Jargos and Layla, she ran over.

"Thank goodness you both are safe. Jargos, I'm proud to announce that you are free to come and go to Zeiza as you please. I understand that you are saddened by the damages here, but we will repair nonetheless. You and my daughter both proved that Ramona was our enemy, and this is the consequences of our trust in her. If you'll come with me to the Medicine Hut, I have something waiting for you."

Jargos remained silent, and followed her to the Medical Hut

Theresa picked up a scroll that laid on the table and unfolded it she began to read aloud.

"To the hero of Zeiza,

Many thanks do we all owe to you for, not only stopping the reign of the Dark Mage Ramona, but for making us realize what we had rejected for many generations. Blinded, we were, by the hands of evil we now understand our mistakes. In gratitude, each and all of us are indebted to you for all eternity.

To repay you for the moment, the village now proudly accepts you and rightfully titles you as a Hero. To you from us, the gift of a blade and sheathe that was hand-crafted by magic itself and is indestructible. Any favors you may need, we will meet up to as possible."

Theresa closed the scroll and pulled from the table a sword inside a golden sheathe with the village crest on it.

"I cast a spell on this blade, personally, so that you may channel your magic into it. I'm aware Layliana gave you the power of fire. And if you cast your fire into this blade, it too will light on fire and slash at your foes."

Jargos was speechless. Only few people in Darkwoods called him Hero. He accepted the blade, then unsheathed it to examine it

"As now the ruler of Zeiza, the rules of the land have been corrected. Warriors, Guards, and the villagers will all be free to come and go as they please. You will no longer require a spell or ability to open the gate to the village. It was shattered by Layliana. With the aid of my power and Airen's, the magical fog surrounding the village and the gate were destroyed. The path to the village is now open. We've named this the Law of Jargos. And the law firmly states,

'Any class of any kind is welcome to come and go as they please without need of magical assistance of entry or exit per the Law of Jargos.'

This place will give you aid and will give you shelter when you need it." Theresa smiled. "And to make this official. As the ruler of Zeiza, by the power within me I hereby title you an official Hero."

Jargos took a knee. He did not know what else to do.

From outside, a voice called in.

"Miss Theresa, may I enter?" It was Airen.

"Proceed."

Theresa motioned for Jargos to stand. Layla turned around to face Airen.

"I think I have something I need to say."

"Yes, I do believe you do, Airen."
