Misunderstood Destinies

"Ah, I see" He looked around a bit, then felt his rumbling stomach and chuckled a bit. "I don't suppose there can be a deer around here?" he asked

"I'd have to check with the hunters of the village. The farmers might know if someone owns one. We haven't seen deer much around here, but they know if we have some in stock or not. Hunters should be returning this morning with new meat."

"Ah"

"When we head out, we can stop by." Layla glanced outside. "I'm getting a bit worried about Elder Ramona. She's giving me some suspicious eyes."

"Oh, but why? Has something happen while I slept?" He asked

"She just gives me this odd look. Elder Ramona wasn't too keen on you coming, and its possible she knows about the Rune marking. I don't understand what her problem would be with it, however."

"Hm . . . Perhaps thine people are afraid of magic unfamiliar to them?"

"Well, our powers slowly change as we grow older. You would think that most would be accustomed by now."

"Thine people are strange in many ways, yet, they have not treated me ill, no thou as I can tell. Let's go"

"Let's go? Where to?"

"To the guild. Were we not supposed to see the guild master?"

"Oh, yes, of course." Layla had forgotten they were to meet with the Warriors Guild leader.

Jargos exited the hut and sniffed the air. Something smelled odd

The closer the two neared the entrance of the village, the more... of an odd feeling Layla had. Layla rushed a bit to the Warriors Guild. "Master Bais, I must speak with you."

"Layliana, what brings you here this early in the morning?"

"Master, I brought a friend. Both of us need to speak with you over a matter of urgency. Can you spare the time?"

"Of course, child. What is the matter?" he turned to the creature behind her. "You are surely one of the strongest I have seen in much time. Tell me, what is your name? Your species I am unsure of. It's been some time since I traveled the world."

"I am Jargos, Beastblood, Ruler of Darkwoods. I am human"

"Well then, Jargos, what brings you here? I'm sure Layliana has told you our customs. Something must be urgent if Elder Ramona accepted you here."

"Thine Elder told me to tell thee to examine my physical and magical capabilities"

"Ah, yes. The same procedure new recruits always go through before training. Come with me. Layliana, if you want to wait outside then feel free to. You've been through this before, so I won't require you to watch."

Jargos walked forward, his runes lightly glowing blue

Layla decided to wait outside seeing as she wanted some fresh air.

"Now, I'm going to have to ask you to stand in the circle. This circle has several engravings in it with spells and such bound to it. Stepping in here, it will test your body multiple times as scans. These scans I can read through the magic that is cast. You may feel the energy of it within you. Allow it to pass if you have the ability to fight it."

Jargos stepped into the circle, the kept his runes from glowing to brightly, keeping most of his energy and strength bottled up as usual

The platform beneath Jargos lit up with a bright cerulean light. Small sparks were sent from the base and towards the ceiling of the room.

Jargos held perfectly still

Master Bias carefully walked around the circle as if observing text and images that were invisible. "Interesting," he said. "Your data is coming up pretty positive."

"For?"
