Misunderstood Destinies

Jargos sighed and ate. half the deer was gone, and he left the other half for her.

Layla sighed and finally decided to eat. She was half-expecting a patrol to attack within the next few hours.

Jargos laid down

"I shall stay awake, Thou needs rest"

Layla nodded seeing as she was exhausted. "Thanks," she said. Layla laid down next to the fire this time, wanting to stay warm and avoid the chilly breeze that flowed through at night.

Jargos stood up and began to breath deeply. After four hours, an arrow made of ice whizzed through the air and sank into Jargos' leg. He did not flinch, nor cry out in pain.

"They have arrived, Layla. Rouse Thyself, lest they all fall by my hand"

Layla awakened and stood up, nodding to Jargos. "Airen's going to be in for a surprise this time. He knows my powers by heart, but being down one power, specifically fire, is going to put me at a disadvantage. I'm trusting the Runes this time around."

The green sphere reappeared in her hands again, then, with added pressure, it shattered and formed the white aura once more. When it cleared, she had taken her spirit's form.

"Let him try to hit me this time. I'll bite his head off."

Jargos nodded and took the ice arrow out of his leg, breaking it with one hand. He was debating on wether to let loose with his runes, or stay in control and use fire when another arrow struck his shoulder. He simply pulled it out and roared, letting his runes blaze white as he shifted

Layla howled into the night, sending a warning for Airen. "If he wants both of us dead, he'll have to get through me first. If Airen wins tonight, he'll have the joy of killing you and letting the Elders deal with me. I'd rather be dead than that."

"He could not kill me, and he cannot defeat thee"

"I don't know all his magical capabilities. Anything is possible when it comes to magic." Layla jumped to the side as an arrow lit on fire flew towards her. "They're coming closer."

Jargos nodded as his last action before he lost control to his animalistic side. He roared out and ran toward the group of Guards. No simply took arrows and kept on charging. He leapt into the air and shredded one Guard before sinking his teeth into another.

"Airen's mine this time. Elder Ramona isn't casting me away this go around." As Guards began appearing from the trees, Layla let out a dark growl. "Bring him forth, cowards. You know who I'm searching. He's mine."

Jargos used his claws to rend Guards and his jaws to decapitate them. It was a massacre, their magic could not stop him, their weapons could not stop him, they could not stop him. He was overpowering them without any hesitation or remorse

Layla watched as Airen slowly appeared from the shadows. "It's time you come home, Layliana. I know it's you under that mask. The marking on your paw signifies it."

"We still have something to settle."

"Do we have to do this? I could easily just walk you home and we can get this over with Elder Ramona. We could continue our life together as a couple."

"Forget it." She growled and pounced, landing on his chest and knocking him over.

Jargos ripped through them like the beast he was. They called him a monster, they couldn't stand him, so now they tried to hunt him down, and now they would all die. He roared out and it echoed through all the land. His wounds healed as he ravaged the three dozen Guards, then went on a rampage back to the camp. His mind was for the moment lost

"Layliana, I won't stand for this."

"Nor will I."

Layla went to bite his shoulder, but she was quickly tossed off with a quick jab in her stomach. Ice began to form in his hands. He threw balls of ice at her, in which she dodged. Noticing Jargos in a sudden rampage, she called out, "Jargos, we'll be all right. Just settle down and take a breather!"

Jargos did not hear due to the fact his heart was pounding his his ears. He launched forward and began attacking other Guards, somehow knowing to leave the wolf and the man alone. He went berserk and destroyed them

Layla shook her head and sighed. She turned back to Airen. The two continued their brawl for a few minutes, attacking and then dodging, until they both were growing tired. Layla leaped into the air to land a final blow. Airen quickly drew his blade, twisted sideways, and landed a gash in her side. Some of the fur in her pelt turned a red color. Layla growled darkly.

"Get out of here now, Airen. I'll rip your face off if you don't call back your men now."

"Make me."

Her eyes turned white as she ran with high speed and landed a slash on his chest that tore part of his upper garment away.

Jargos was in a blood drunk rage and none of the Guards stood a chance. Their magic could wound him, but not even slow him down. He roared and continued his frenzy until it was only him and one Guard who had been hiding in a tree. Jargos snarled and began to climb the tree, but a rain of icy shards slowed him finnally. He was bleeding heavily, but kept going. When he reached his last victim, he gutted him with ease and ripped the body apart before letting himself fall back to earth. He landed with a thud before roaring out into the night and running if into the forest to find more things to kill

In the panic, Airen called his men back but realized they were all dead. Airen, though injured, ran back to the village.

Moments later, Layla went in a rush to get to Jargos. She pounced on his back to settle him down. "Jargos, it's all right! They're gone! Calm down!"

Jargos was standing over a fresh kill when Layla pounced him, but he pushed up and threw her off, then went to kill something else. He was snarling and growling, he was almost unrecognizable. He crouched low to the ground, ready to lunge at a deer

Upon being thrown off, Layla was changed back into her regular form. She cringed from the landing and then noticed that she had a gash in her side. Part of her blue wrap over her black tunic was stained with red. Summoning her staff, she went and locked against Jargos with her weapon and used it as defense.

"Jargos, I don't have the strength to hold you off forever. You must calm down!"

He roared out deafeningly, then started to come back. He closed his mouth and took a knee. He was shaking severely. He sniffed the air, then looked at her side. He moved forward and sniffed her side some more, still quaking

Layla noticed him observing the wound in her side. "I'm fine. Just calm down, Jargos."

He pulled back, his runes fading from white to red, and from red to blue, and finally back to black. His body began to shrink as his snout and claws retracted. His skin returned to it's slightly tanned color as his fur faded away. His irises were the last thing to change back. His gaze was fixed on her eyes. He breathed heavily, but only from his nose. He looked almost sad.
