Destiny of Light (2)

Jargos nuzzled her, his hand behind her head as he tried to comfort her as best he could. There were no magic words, no show of force, not a single thing that he could do to alleviate her pain. Nothing could have hurt more than seeing her like this. He held her close, it was all he could do.


Krieg nodded, feeling a lump in his throat. He forced himself to stand up, his bones and sinew making wretched noises as he arose. When he stretched a bit, he inhaled deeply through his nose, and then froze in place. He sniffed the air like a wolf on a trail, suddenly dropping back to all fours and shifting a bit. With his sense of smell enhanced, he suddenly began running in circles, his nose in the dirt and ash as he tracked the source of the odor. Krieg seemed to lock onto a spot, then began to savagely pound on the ground, the stones resisting his fists. Infuriated, he shifted fully and resumed the assault on the ground, this time the earth beginning to shatter under the impacts.

Layla and Luna both look to Kreig, unsure of what he was searching. Luna goes a bit beside him, watching as he dug through the hard earth below. "What is it?" she asks. She watches patiently.

Kreig's efforts payed off as he finally punched a giant hole in the earth and reached down. Kreig pulled up something slowly and carefully, because it turned out that he was pulling up a little Ziezan child. The child was bawling, scared of Kreig. Voices could be heard coming from the hole in the ground, a hole group of villagers had made it to the underground shelters.



Jargos was impressed by Kreig, he felt ashamed that he wouldn't of caught that trail

Luna gently takes the crying child into her arms to calm it. She holds the child close to her and rubs the back of its head. "Calm yourself, little one. You're safe now."

Layla takes a step from Jargos to look to the hole. She instructs for Kreig and Luna to move back before hitting her foot to the ground, thrusting her arms out and then gently moving them up. A large piece of the earth moves itself with the aid of her magic, allowing air to those below. She feels a sudden relief within her, one that almost weakens her emotionally. "Thank the heavens..." she words out.

Jargos grinned and so did Kreig. Helping people as they could, soon a large group was amassing from under the ground.

Layla could hardly believe what she was seeing. ''By the goddesses...'' Luna puts an arm around Layla for them both to cradle the small child.

''Our leader is dead, but we can still revive the spirit of the clan, Grandmother.''

"I wonder who'll lead them now" Krieg mused aloud. He had shifted back down to human form so as not to scare to many people

Jargos was slightly worried, something seemed ever so slightly amiss, but he hid his concern well

As the crowd emerged, Layla took a stance on a higher stone. ''My people,'' she spoke, ''lend me your ears. I cannot begin to tell you how much of a relief it is to see life in the clan. Although our homes burn around us, we will rebuild and live again in peace. Morgana, the hellish queen, is dead. Zeiza will live on now that she has perished.''

A loud roar of hope and approval came from the crowd as people got to work clearing the rubble. Although saddened by their loses, they worked diligently.


Kreig smiled and then went to help


Jargos worked, but his mind was occupied

Luna whispers to Jargos as Layla addresses the crowd. ''Is something amiss, Jargos?''

"I am not yet sure, but something seems wrong. Don't worry yet, but I'm going to do a perimeter check" He nods to her, then slips away. Making his way to the outside of the village, Jargos begins to focus, looking for anything out of the ordinary. He hoped dearly that he was wrong, that this nightmare was over, but he needed to be sure


Krieg worked to help, and after a very short amount of time, most of the rubble was gone

Layla and Luna assist in the village repair until Layla notices Jargos' disappearance. "Kreig, where is Jargos?"

Kreig raised an eyebrow, looking around. He hadn't even noticed Jargos wasn't there, assuming he was off helping. "I'm sorry, milady, I don't know" Confused, Kreig looked around once more, but to no avail


Jargos was concentrating, extending his senses to their limits, but he found nothing to validate his feeling. Becoming a bit frustrated, he decided to withdraw into his mind and focus on the feeling, hoping it would tell him something, anything else

Luna goes in Layla's place to find Jargos. "Jargos!" she calls, attempting to locate him. Even Layla was growing slowly concerned. Within the grounds beneath them, she sensed a feeling of dark intention from a source unknown to her.

A shiver ran up Kreig's spine, something was wrong. He began to track down Jargos, leading Luna and Layla just outside of the village to him. A slight rumble could be felt under the ground, which grew stronger and stronger. Jargos shifted, snarling and growling, ready to attack whatever was coming


Less than 20 feet from the group, a steel plate gauntlet burst from the ground, shooting up and leading a full suit. Surges and swirls of darkness shot up from the ground, holding the suit up. Once the entire set of armor was standing before them, the shadows and darkness stabbed into the metal and merged their evil magics with the physical objects, enchanting it and morphing it into something of pure evil. Soon, a set of black armor with red filigree and jagged spikes all over it stood before them. It made no moves, just stood there, peering with darkness

Layla forms an invisible shield around the group, fearing the monster to be dangerous. She readies herself for any movement, any sign that they should defend and then attack. "What is this madness?" she asks. "We defeated Morgana. This shouldn't be happening!"

Jergos and Kreig knew what this being was. They both shifted down, Jargos sighing deeply. Krieg took a step back, and Jargos turned to Layla. "My dearest friend . . ." A small tear was rolling down his cheek. "This is Death . . . It would seem my time has come"

Tears filled Layla's eyes. "What..?" She shakes her head. "You can't leave, Jargos. I... I won't let you leave. It took a hundred years to find you again..." She's obviously saddened, not wanting him to leave.

Death shook his head, face palming. "You monsters and you're diluted sense of honor. I'm here for Morgana. Oaf" He strode past Jargos and bowed before Layla. "He's all yours, even I can't forsee his death" Then he walked off to find Morgana's soul

Jargos' heart skipped a beat, and in his jubilation, swept Layla off her feet, nuzzling and hugging her

Kreig jumped for joy

Layla hugged him tightly. "Thank Gaea..." she murmurs, tears falling from her face in joy.

Jargos kissed Layla's forehead before putting her down

Layla smiled gently. "I won't let anything, whether creature or illness, separate us again." She grins. "Land and water included."

"I like that idea very much" Jargos smiled

Layla held him tightly before looking back to Luna and Kreig. "Let's move on back to Zeiza. We have work to attend to and a new leader to promote. If we're going to get things back on track, then we need to start somewhere."

Jargos relished their embrace

Kreig nodded and got ready to get back into the town

Death walked by, shaking his head at Jargos
