Destiny of Light

Layla looked over to Luna. "Alright, Luna. Stop flirting." She winked. "We're heading to Garlan."

Luna simply smiled.

A startled look came onto Kreig's face when Layla said "Flirting". He fumbled his way up to Jargos who was leading as he normally did

Layla stayed beside Luna during the trip to Garlan.

As the four traveled, Jargos and Kreig were on high alert. They could sense the shadows with their bestial 6th sense, yet the shadows seemed to be avoiding the group

Layla asked Luna, "When did you say the Shadows attacked Zeiza last?"

"It was in the late evening. At night."

"This is becoming a pattern. They're only coming out in the evening and night, it seems."

Kreig nodded to Jargos, telling him he wanted to scout ahead. Jargos nodded back and Kreig darted of, scanning and surveying the area

Luna asked, "So, what did happen last night? You said something about coming into contact with the shadows."

"I went out to the forest, memorizing my way, and one just came out of nowhere. All he did was put his hand to my chest and I was frozen in that spot. I'm a little worried as to what this could mean or lead up to."

Kreig felt the same thing every where he went, shadows, but only from afar. They were keeping their distance. Kreig's runes began to glow red, and when he looked back, he could see Jargos' runes glow as well. Something was up

"Did they injure you in any way?" Luna asked.

"No, and I am surprised. Whatever creature I spoke to promises a return, and it only brings worry to me. They seem to only come out in the evening that I've noticed. That is when we're weary from travel and pick our spot to rest. If we do not reach Garlan by nightfall, I worry about what may happen."

Kreig sniffed the air,then he realized, nothing was around them. No birds, no land animals, not even insects. It was noon

Layla perked her ears a bit. "It's gone silent."

Luna looked around. "The sun will be setting soon. We've hit the hour of high noon. I'm starting to wonder if our best choice would be to rest during the day and travel at night."

Kreig saw more shadows, he howled out. Soon, a chorus of howls responded. Kreig was insuring their security. Jargos chuckled at the gesture, seeing as he used it a few times himself. soon, wolves began to appear out of the woodwork

Layla had an uneasy feeling still from the previous night and hoped they were getting closer to Garlan. "How long do you think until we get there?"

"Soon, I'm sure. Don't worry, though. We've got each other, and things will be fine."

Kreig came back to the group

"They're out there, but they're keeping their distance from us" he told the group

Layla nodded to Kreig.

"We need to try to get to Garlan before nightfall."

"Agreed" Jargos said as he lead on

The two women continued on behind Jargos.

Kreig looked back at Luna, then blushed and looked away

The afternoon started turning late, and Garlan came into full view.

"Good to see that we're almost there," Luna stated.

Kreig smiled and nodded, Jargos went back to Layla to check up on her

Luna walked over to Kreig while Layla and Jargos talked.

"I can't help but feel uneasy, Jargos. I've felt that way since last night. Honestly, I would've told you but Kreig was the first one out and you were asleep."

"I understand my friend. I'm just sorry that I couldn't help you" Jargos told her


Kreig sensed Luna coming up to him and his palms became sweaty. He managed a smile when she came up to him, trying not to pass out

"If I could understand what they're capable of, I'd try to get some research on it. Though, I'd have to be in enough contact with one of them to even pick up anything. My magic is powerful now, more than it was before. I have an idea of what we're up against, and I'm not exactly afraid to try again." Layla had much confidence in her statement, but she still had a slight bit of doubt in her.

Luna greeted Kreig. "You and I really haven't talked much and I thought I'd give those two time to speak."

Jargos agreed with her



Kreig nodded.

"I-um, well, I-uh just don't talk much. I'm more of a silent guy, I guess. I'm not really good with words" He was blushing "What about you? Do you like to talk?"

Layla rubbed her hand over the rune on her opposite hand. "If I come into contact with one again, and anything happens that I can't handle, I'll do what I can to call you. I can manage on my own on a simple walk through the forest, but we're against something we don't understand."

Luna giggled. "Well, when I can find a good conversationalist." Luna nudged his arm with her elbow.
