Misunderstood Destinies (2)

"How can we do that? He simply took control of his creation, what can you and I do that could even compare to what we fought last night?"

"If he merged his power with his creature, then surely we can as well. I taught you channeling, and now is the time to put it to the full test. If we both formed a powerful enough blast together, then it may be just enough to take him down in the final blow. Individually, our powers worked on the single foe we faced. Then, when he merged, we both attacked him as individuals rather than a duo. Perhaps, if we duplicate his same move, then the result will come out positive.

Though this is only a theory, I have a good feeling about it. I'd be all for trying it if it wasn't for the fact that I used up my magic in the last attack I made. I won't be able to test the theory with you until my power regenerates."

Jargos did not know what to say. He nodded, then made his way over to her

"We haven't lost yet, Jargos. Maybe the battle, but not the war."

"I hope you're right, Layla" He sighed "Let's head back"

Layla nodded and continued on.

Jargos still could not open his eyes, but made it back to his hut alright. He sat down on his bed

Layla kept wondering what could've happened that could've caused Jargos to lose his sight. "Everything seemed perfectly fine until the explosion, so I'm starting to wonder if its magic that is causing your issue. Light Magic I can deal with. Dark is a different story."

"That could be it, but I'm not sure" Jargos climbed under the covers to rest

"Rest tonight with ease, and in the morning I'll see what I can do. There's just not much I can do until my power returns to its normal strength." Layla was almost for sure that Jargos' loss of ability to see was her doing from the explosion. And if it was, she was sure she could reverse it.

Jargos tried to sleep, but couldn't, but he made sure to act like he was sleeping

When the night went on, Layla became too exhausted to stay up any longer. Forced to rest in the spare bed, she fell asleep quickly.

Jargos' runes glowed green, but he was far from unconscious.

Morning soon came over the horizon of the lands. As the sun came up into the sky, Layla woke up a little bit earlier than usual. She felt refreshed.

Jargos did not sleep at all, but his runes drew in enough energy that he felt better than before

Layla sat up in bed and stretched. The events from the day before came back to her mind and she knew what the day in front of them had in store. At the top of the list would be getting aid for Jargos, and then preparing for the final fight with Balthazar.

Jargos slowly rose out of bed, silent as the grave, which was the first hint he didn't sleep

Layla sighed. She felt she only had herself to blame, but didn't say a word. "How did you sleep?" she said, having a feeling Jargos was awake the entire night.

"I've had better nights, you?" He stood up and walked to the center of the hut, then he started sniffing around

"I slept well to some extent. Couldn't really stay up much later than I did, honestly."

"That's good" He finally found what he was sniffing for and picked his sword up, then put it on his back

"To be honest, I believe everything happens for a reason. Perhaps today we'll find out why you are unable to see, and then correct the problem. I won't give up on trying to find the solution, I promise."

"Perhaps, but I couldn't blame you if you did give up. There are more important things than my sight"

"You didn't become this way until the explosion occurred that blasted us both, and it was my fault that I didn't realize how powerful it really was. It's only fair that I find out the solution, seeing as I caused this to happen."

Jargos didn't want to argue, so he simply nodded, then headed outside to see who had some breakfast going that he might be able to have some of
