Misunderstood Destinies (2)

Taking a moment to catch her breath, she stood up and tried one more time. Her magic stopped her, and she already went beyond her limit for the evening. Layla was sore, but she honestly couldn't tell that she was because of her anger with Balthazar. "Da** it, Balthazar. I don't care! You can't change my fate and I won't let you change Jargos' either. If you really want to pick a fight, then don't be a coward and come out here and fight me yourself!" After a moment, she finally sat down against a tree to calm down.

Jargos' finely tuned ears picked up her yelling and he headed in her direction

Layla took the last chance she had before she went back to camp and threw off one more sphere. It barely made any damage to a nearby boulder. She glanced at her hands as the white outline of her primary weapon merely flickered in her hands. Layla cursed under her breath. She met her limit and there was nothing else she could do.

"You're forgetting something" He said to her

Layla looked at Jargos in surprise. She didn't expect him to follow her out to the clearing. "I had to get my rage out on something. I didn't want to take it out on you by accident."

But, forgetting something? She thought he meant the rune, but she was unsure if she even had the strength to launch out another attack.

"The rune is the key to the vast reserve of power in your body. Tap into it and try again while I go hid behind a rock"

Layla sighed. She was already exhausted. "I'll try, but I honestly don't know how much more of this I can take, Jargos." As her Rune began to glow, she tried to use it to move the soft earth below her.

Jargos nodded, planning to watch, then use his speed at the last moment to get them to safety

Layla made a set of hand motions and then the ground below her started to shake. Pulling her hand down, cracks started appearing. It was still strain to use the ability, but she was doing everything she could to handle it. Everything started feeling like an earthquake starting to form.

"Tap into the power! It's there! You're doing it!" Jargos cheered her on

Layla could feel it getting stronger as she pushed her emotion into her movements. "I think I'm going to just have to calm down before I do much more. I don't like pulling that much anger into my attacks because I'll lose control of them."

"Alright" Jargos walked up to her to help her if she needed it

Layla sighed. "I know I shouldn't let this get to me, but he just really picked at the one part of me that I couldn't stop with magic or with weapons." She wanted to go back to the hut to sleep and be ready for morning. "I wish he'd stop being a coward and just come face to face. I'd like to punch him right between the eyes and make it hurt so hard that it's just break his forehead..."

Jargos nodded, then pondered something for a moment

Layla started heading back. "You coming?"

Jargos nodded and followed her, something spinning in his mind

Layla turned back to him for a moment, "And I think I know what you're thinking. And if you're thinking what I think you are, don't even go there. I'm not going to let you." She continued on.

"Oh? And since when do you read minds?" He chuckled, but he was thinking exactly what she thought he was thinking

"I never said I could. I just call it an educated guess."

"Ah, well, yes I am thinking what you think I am thinking and I am not only thinking it, I intend to make sure the thing that you think I am thinking that I am thinking will happen before I finish thinking about it"

Layla tried to comment but couldn't. "Touche." They made it back to the hut soon enough.

Jargos motioned for her sit down in front of him as he sat down with his legs crossed

Layla did so, but she was confused. "What are you doing?"

"You already know, mind reader" Jargos chuckled as his runes began to glow a light blue. After a moment, his runes began to grow tendrils

"I never said I was." She was confused. "Jargos, I don't understand what you're doing."
