Misunderstood Destinies (2)

Layla didn't want to eat, but she started running through ideas she could use on healing Jargos.

Jargos found a kind child who shared his boar with him, then he went back to see if there was a way he could make Layla feel better

Layla saw Jargos return after a short time. She greeted him, welcoming him back.

Jargos greeted her as well

Layla went back to focusing her magic.

Jargos rested on the ground near Layla, feeling comforted near her in his sight's absense. He knew it wasn't her fault, and even if it was, he would forgive her, but he just wanted to know what the problem was

She opened her eyes to glance at Jargos, sensing tension from him. "I can try to remove the problem that is blocking your vision. I will have no guarantees, however. If this fails, we will have to go to Zeiza should no one here in the Darkwoods know the problem. As you have seen, Mother is a healer. I do not want to have to result to that, being how far Zeiza is from here, but I'm willing to make the trip and I'll carry you if I need to. I won't leave you here to die. You're my comrade, a friend," she paused, "And you're my hero. I will stand by your side as long as the war rages on."

Jargos felt better, and got up to get closer to Layla. Once he was near her, he wraped her in a hug. He dwarfed her, but he was gentle. She was his closest friend and he words we more powerful than his whole body
"Thank you, my friend"

Layla blushed slightly at the sudden hug and put her hand to his arm. "I won't leave you. On the outside, you take the form of a creature I have never seen in my life before; however, on the inside, I know you're kind and whole-hearted to everything you do and all the people you care about. You have my promise as a warrior that I'll defend you with my life until you can fight with your sight once more."

Jargos nuzzled Layla, then backed away a bit. He tried to open his eyes once more

"I have reason to believe this all was my own fault from the explosion. I practically nearly killed both of us, and I should've warned you to get back. I didn't realize how close you were and how big the explosion was." A white aura began to surround her hands. She put one on top of the other and placed them over Jargos' eyes. "I should be able to reverse it."

"I do not believe you are to blame, even if your power caused it, you had to fight" He felt as if a wight was being lifted off his eyes and smelled her hand come close to his face

"But I should have warned you. If I had, you would've gotten back and things wouldn't have turned out the way they did." The aura continued to glow on her hands. "I'm doing everything I can. Magic's going to do the rest."

Jargos nodded and let the aura seep into his eyes. Slowly, he began to open them, but he saw things differently. It was as if he could see through Layla's hand and to her face, and then past her to the huts beyond, and then back again, but it was all racing by him and the color seemed inverted somehow, then normal agian. He was startled , but held still trying to focus his sight

"What do you see? Is everything back to normal?"

He shook his head, then tried to focus on her face. He was obviously putting a huge amount of effort into it. The color began to turn to normal and her face to shape.

Layla continued. "This is strange. I mean, really. I mean, whatever it is I should be able to reverse it. That I am almost sure of."

"I can see . . . but it's different . . . I can see things outside of the hut . . . I can see you through your hand" He focused harder and Layla's face became clear

"That sounds like some twisted magic, in my opinion."

"Agreed . . . Hm . . ." He focused harder and saw her hand, then his sight leveled out into normality, but he had to keep part of his mind focused on it

"When things are clear again, let me know so I can release the magic to try to seal it. It might correct it."

"It's clear, but only when I focus"

"I'm going to try to release the aura and see if it settles it. Maybe you won't have to focus so hard to get it clear."

Jargos nodded

Layla called off the aura and removed her hands. "See how that is."
