Just another day in the Apocalypse

Keith drove for another hour until they came to a deserted town. It was getting close to dusk and Keith parked the jeep outside a convenient store. "I'll head inside and get anything we might need" He said to Dare before waving for Matt to follow him

Dare kept her hood over her head and listened to the police radio in the car. Cyrus and Joey were riding in the bed of the truck and carefully kept their eyes open for anything.

Keith and Matt went inside and began to search for supplies. They found some flashlights and batteries, as well as a lot of food and drinks. Loading the Jeep and truck up with the spoils, they were about to get back on the road when Matt heard moaning coming down the street. He motioned to Keith and lead the way. They went around the corner of the building and saw a small group of zombies heading into two from the other side. Keith and Matt rushed back to the cars and started them up, which got the zombies attention

The zombies hurried on a fast pace to them, in which Dare tightened her hand around her pistol. The police couldn't be far off, she thought. Cyrus and Joey were both ready to fire when necessary.

"Take 'em down" Matt said. He pulled a shotgun from his truck and opened fire. Keith picked up a few large rocks and hurled them at the zombies. In a matter of seconds, they were all gone and Keith was driving away, Matt was close behind

Dare put her pistol back down and let out a breath of relief. "I can't tell you how much this means to me, Keith."

"You'd do the same for me, give it your all to help me, so I'll give my all to help you." Keith said sincerely.

She smiles. "Those are probably the best words I've heard in a year."

Keith shrugged and kept driving. Matt drove close behind, Sasha holding his hand

A few hours passed. Dare was asleep in the jeep while Joey was sleeping in the truck with Cyrus.

It was time to stop for the night and make a camp. Keith drove until he found a good place to pull off and head back into the woods a bit. Matt followed and soon the group was in a small clearing. Keith started unloading tents while Matt went to go get firewood. Sasha woke up and groggily woke up the others

Dare and the others woke up and moved to the campsite. Cyrus went off with the others to find materials for the campfire while Joey stayed with Dare.

"Hey, will you calm down?"

"I'm sorry. I can't help but feel uneasy, Joey."

"Then for once give yourself a rest. They can't find you here."

Keith set up tents on auto pilot, The patches, adrenaline shots and hours of driving had him almost in a daze. He set up four of the five tents before crashing. He didn't even make it into his tent, he just crashed. Matt and Sasha had a fire going and some food cooking in no time

Dare moved to a tent to sleep. She wanted everything off her mind. Joey and Cyrus stayed near the fire for the majority of the night before moving to bed.

Matt put the fire out after dragging Keith into his tent to sleep. Sasha went to their tent and the group slept the rest of the night, while Matt stayed on watch.

Dare seemed almost restless. She kept having nightmares of the police coming, and by morning she was the first one awake but remained mostly in her tent until just after the sun came up.

Keith was the last to wake up and only woke up because Matt woke him up so they could get on their way. Keith crawled out of his tent and broke it down before going to brush his teeth and put on deoderant

By the end of the hour, it was calm in the clearing and everything had been packed back up. "Where are we going next? To another location or home?" Joey asks.

"I'll leave that up to Dare. Do you think cops would wait that long for you to come back, or take the bait and assume you left for good?" Keith asked

He replies, "Even I am not sure. I would assume they've left by now."

"Alright, then we pack up and head back, at the abandoned town, we send off a recon team to check and be sure" Keith said and got to work

Cyrus and Joey both assist in packing up equipment along with Dare, soon ready to head off.

In a few minutes, everything was packed and ready to go. Keith got into the passenger seat of the jeep, he knew he couldn't drive. Matt and Sasha were ready to go

Dare gave decent directions to a back-road into town. It'd be safer in the case there were scouts, but she had a bad feeling

Everyone followed Dare's lead and in a few hours they were back at the town. Keith decided Cyrus and himself would be the recon team. "We'll be back soon. Find a place, clear it out, and hunker down inside" Keith said to Dare, Sasha and Matt
