Just another day in the Apocalypse

Keith nodded and listened again. Matt and Sasha listened carefully, while Marc listened and schemed.

Joey reexplains the story, with Dare adding in from time to time.

"--And so that's what's going on. We've got an apocalypse on our hands." Joey sits back.

Dare adds, "And look, I swear to you I'm not infected. I haven't made attempts to bite you so far. I don't plan on that."

Matt and Sasha nod, ready to help, and Marc plays along, already thinking of how he can manipulate this his advantage. If he could turn Dare in, he would surly be rewarded

Joey adds, "WOOTU is a big thing. The both of us are the only ones with even the slightest clue to a cure. Are you all willing to help us?" he asks.

Keith stood up at attention. "Lieutenant commander First class Keith Pyle, at your service"
Matt and Sasha nodded, holding hands. "We'll do what we can"
Marc nodded

Dare nods. And for once, her expression is almost softened. "And thank you, all of you, for listening to all of this. It's been a lot of madness, madness that has gotten some people close to all of us killed."

"Anyone who can fight, come with me, I'm going to set up our perimeter" Keith said. Matt followed him

Cyrus, who was rather skilled himself, followed Keith. Joey stood with Dare.

"Hey, take it easy, Dare. For once you don't have to run. I'd take advantage of it."

She struggles a bit from the pain in her head. "I'll put up a fight if I have to, but that's not what I'm up for. I want to see how far you've come."

"Alright, Matt and Cyrus, you two head around the south side, look for defensible positions within 30 yards of the building. I'll take the north" Keith set out

Cyrus sets off to position. Under his belt he carries a knife and a gun, enough to protect himself if needed.

Keith finds a few spots that he marks by scoring the trees with his machetes. Matt works with Cyrus and they find a few good ones as well. When they all meet back up at the back end of the building Keith speaks up. "Alright, head into the forest and look for heavy logs and branches, we're gonna make a wall"

Cyrus nods. "Many of the woodcutters leave the larger and thicker bits they can't cut. There might be some left there."

"Alright, drag back as many as you can on your own and we'll regroup to get the ones that'll take more than one person" Keith started out to go find lumber

Cyrus goes out to hunt some wood down, though he's a bit unfortunate as he finds little in the area he searched. He brings back what he can and waits for the others.

Keith also had little luck finding anything to bring back, but Matt hit the jackpot. They all worked together and slowly a wall of lumber was erected around the building, ten yards out.

Cyrus slowly helps them build. "I'm rather thankful that we chose to live out in the country. This would be pretty difficult in the city limits."

"Tell me about it" Keith said. Marc nodded "The debris there would be nice, but stuff hasn't really been broken yet"

Cyrus nods. "Well, we do what we can out here."

Meanwhile, Joey and Dare are back inside to look at the new solutions.

Keith leads Cyrus and Marc out to go get the bigger logs. Keith puts on on of his patches, this time under his shirt on his chest. He lets the formula sink in and then helps move the heavy logs.

Cyrus returns back to the forest, then suddenly hears footsteps. He tightens a hand around his pistol, slightly fearing for any of the government officials to have already found them.

Matt draws a pistol and Keith pulls his war hammer off his back. Faint moaning and shuffling could be heard, getting closer and closer. Keith signaled to Matt and Cyrus to hide. They waited until the walkers were within range of their pistols. Keith motioned for Cyrus to step up and fire, and for Matt to cover him when he needed to change clip. Keith circled around the back of the horde and picked off strays with him warhammer

Cyrus sends of a few shots to the walking dead approaching them. Dare and Joey heard the shots outside and they immediately went up to the attic. They listened, almost fearing it to be the government officials.

Keith, on a rush from his patch got carried away and stepped into a bullet. He dropped, growling in pain. The bullet went though the right side of his chest. Matt kept firing, the horde larger than they suspected. Keith staggered back up, coughing up blood, but his adrenaline was through the roof and he pushed the pain from his mind as he smashed as many as he could. One grabbed onto his right arm, pulling him to the ground. Keith struggled to get one of his knives and kill the zombie, keeping it from biting him as long as he could

With careful and quick aiming, Cyrus aims for a headshot to the back of the head of the zombie. "Nailed it!" he called. He goes back to shooting as rapidly as he can. He's running out of bullets, as he didn't think to carry an extra mag on him.

Keith's hunting knife sunk into the zombie's temple and he threw it off of him. He retrieved his knife and went back to work crushing zombies. Matt was almost out and it looked like more were coming. "I have more guns and ammo in the truck, let's go get it!!" Matt called out to Cyrus. Keith swung wildly, smashing skulls, but the hole in his chest was a bit of a problem, he was running out of steam
