Destiny of Light

"Do you want to head out and see if anything strange is going on or just rest here for the night?"

"I say we rest. There is no reason to venture out right now"

Layla nodded. "Alright, that's fine by me then." She removed her cloak and hung it up on a coat-rack. "It's amazing, though, how much has changed. Well..." She realized that she couldn't exactly see the sites and all. "How it feels, I mean." She sat on the bed opposite of Jargos once more. "The smells are the same but the feeling is different."

"I agree" Jargos hadn't had a bed in 100 years, and he was happy to sleep in one again, but more importantly, he hadn't seen Layla in 100 years, and was very happy to be near her again

Layla yawned, which did express her exhaustion. "I think I'm going to get a bit of sleep. I was up all night last night from being on the ship back here."

"I hope I can get some sleep, too" he chuckled to her "Good night, my friend"

"Night to you too, Jargos."

"Jargos tried to sleep, but it seemed impossible. Something was wrong and he knew it

While Layla was sleeping, she kept seeing blurry visions of what looked like shadows in a faded town of some sort. It looked dark, almost like night time. It wasn't a nightmare, and it didn't seem like a dream to her.

Jargos was wide awake, pondering what was to come. He was surprised when his runes began to glow once more, and he was comforted by the soft green light they gave off

Layla could sense a threat coming from the vision, though she was unsure as to what it was. Shifting slightly in her sleep, the vision soon faded to black.

Jargos slipped into his approximation of sleep. 100 years of 18 hour days, made it had to try and sleep at this time of night, but soon he knew he would pass out

As morning soon came, Layla woke up early. Accustomed to her sleeping schedule from her time in Nicca, Layla felt almost wide awake upon morning.

Jargos was still asleep, but in about a half hour, he would rouse

Until Jargos awakened, Layla sat on the windowsill of the room to get a bit of sun in her skin. She took her locket off and ran her fingers over it. She had found herself doing that a lot as of recent, not really realizing it however.

Jargos awoke, and Layla was treated to the familiar gruesome sounds of Jargos' body stretching and creaking. It hadn't gotten worse over the years, but it hadn't gotten better by any means, and his odd noises awoke patrons of the inn down the hall. He yawned loudly as he prepared to stand up

Layla giggled a little bit to the familiar sounds of Jargos' morning awakening. "Morning, sleepyhead."

"Oh, good morning, my friend" he replied, completely unaware of the disturbance he caused. he got up and looked at her on the windowsill

Layla glanced at the locket one last time, though she knew she couldn't see it, before putting it back on. "So, what's on the agenda for today?" she asked.

"I say we travel to see your granddaughter. They may have more answers in the village. Those in Darkwoods would be able to find and contact me if they knew anything, so there's our best bet"

"Perhaps. I wonder how much has changed...?" She didn't make much thought of it. Walking over to the door, she said, "Shall we?"

"How do you want to travel?" He asked as he opened the door

"Whatever way you prefer."

"Alright, speed it is. I'll shift once we're out of the city" he told her as her lead her through the streets

Layla nodded and followed Jargos after grabbing her staff.
