Misunderstood Destinies

Layla walked over to the window and sat on the windowsill. She could hear the wind whistling outside. Glancing at the mountain, she turned away from its view. Layla did miss being home, but turning back now would cost her her powers. She started thinking. 'What if Elder Ramona is a Dark Mage?'

Jargos slept still, still dreaming of comforts

Layla soon went back to bed with a little less ease than before. She felt uneasy about the upcoming days with her new belief about the elder.

Jargos awoke and sat up in bed, then got up and began walking for the door

Layla rested peacefully in bed until morning.

When Layla awoke, Jargos and his cloak were gone

Layla woke up late, and looked out her window for Jargos. She shrugged it off for now and put her cloak on, then went out to browse the town.

Jargos had slept walked to go find some food, and went hunting. He came back into town after waking up and bathing in the lake.

After a bit of wandering, with really no thoughts of purchasing any item, she went back to the cabin.

Jargos spotted Layla on her way back to the inn and met up with her.

"How was thine rest?"

"Fairly well. My side hasn't been bothering me much this morning, which is some relief."

"Ah, good good. Dost thou believe we should see the king this day?"

"Perhaps, but are you sure we should take the risk?"

"It would be a great aid to have a kingdom fighting with us. It could mean victory or defeat. I say it's worth the risk"

"Then I'll trust in your choice then."

Jargos nodded, then led the way back into the inn, and in a moment, they were in their room once more

"I shall be ready to embark shortly"

Layla nodded, then walked to the door. "I must pay the inn-keeper for today's rent. I'll be back momentarily."

"Aye"

Jargos was packed and ready in a flash, and had a hard time not taking the blanket with him

After Layla paid the keeper, she overheard a conversation nearby.

"--and the rumors say that there's a hidden village up in the mountains. Not many know about it, I hear, and that only those that know the path can get there."

"I heard one rumor say that the clan is led by a Dark Mage. Remember the stories about them?"

"Those things haven't been around in ages, Charles."

"I tell you, I saw one with my own eyes just days ago. Attacked a huge beast. Some girl went and stopped it."

"Strange things happening now. Wonder if all the stories are true."

Jargos waited for Layla to return

Layla returned back to the cabin. She greeted Jargos.

"Art thou ready to depart?"

Layla nodded. "I have a feeling we'll need to return to Zeiza soon. For now, I won't say as to why. But if I'm right, then we may be in more trouble than we can handle right now."

Jargos furrowed his brow, but knew better than to ask, he nodded then opened the door for her

Layla exited the room and led the way outside the inn. "To Garlan Castle, then."
