Misunderstood Destinies

Jargos let loose a low growl and left the hut. He was sniffing the air. He let his runes shift from blue to red and a popping sound cam from his spine

"Put this on your belt. Let's go, Layliana!" The two rushed behind Jargos. Immediately they knew something was wrong.

Jargos snarled and seemed to have grown in the few second that they didn't see him. He snarled and then barked out. He dashed forward, heading out of the village.

"Master Bias, get everyone to safety. Jargos is picking up some bad magic going on outside."

Airen had quickly ran to the gate. "Layliana, what's with the sudden panic? Has something happened?"

"Ring the bells, Airen. Get everyone to safety. Something's about to happen."

"But, Lay-"

"Airen, we have no time for this... I'm sorry."

Layla rushed out the barrier of the gate and headed out into the world.

When Layla emerged from the gate, jargos was in a dog fight with monstrous skeleton. It has three crocodile skulls, covered in fangs, and four long, clawed arms. It moved more quickly than Jargos could move, and seemed to be able to hit twice as hard. Jargos roared out and leapt into the air, red iris visible in his coal black eyes

"Holy..." she said quietly. Never had she seen such a horrifying creature. She summoned her staff to her hands. Joining the battlefield, she saw that it was still a bit dark due to the sun having not risen fully over the trees yet. Casting her shield, she started throwing multiple hits and fire power at the beast.

The Bone-Beast caught Jargos and smashed him into the ground, then lunged at Layla, it's four arms in front of it

Layla quickly cast a barrier and used her staff as if it controlled it. "Don't make me go all tiger on you. This pussycat has claws and this pussycat is going to claw your face off."

Jargos's runes became blindingly bright as he got up from the crater. He was growling instead of breathing, and he suddenly grew even more. His claws became thicker and longer, and his skin became dark. A snout began to sprout from his face as he hurtled forward and onto the back of the Bone-Beast, trying to get it away from Layla.


The Bone-Beast paid Jargos no mind as it started pounding as the barrier surrounding Layla

For a moment, the marking on Layla's hand glowed slightly before stopping. She knew she'd need some extra help to hold the beast down. In the mean time, her eyes turned white as he anger rose. A split second it seemed her voice had been altered.

Jargos roared out and started pulling at the ribs of the abomination, his fangs growing out as his body seemed to change into something else. He roared out as he wrestled the creature to the ground, but now, Layla could see his true form.


He stood over seven and a half feet tall. His skin was very dark, but his eyes were darker still, save his burning red irises. He had some fur on his head, his lower jaw, his forearms, and his legs. The fur that made his odd mane had now grown out and covered his shoulders and made a V down his chest, and two V's down his back, going over his shoulder blades. His muscled rippled under his skin. His claws were almost a half inch long, and a quarter inch think, jet black. His fangs were much larger now than they had been before, but the most noticeable change in him was that his runes were no longer glowing red, but blazing white.


Jargos roared out and growled at the Bone-Beast before pouncing onto it and snapping his jaws at it's bone

The sudden transformation startled Layla. She knew underneath it was truly Jargos, however. Layla couldn't seem to interfere in the fight, but decided to give Jargos some aid. She transferred her shield to Jargos. The invisible barrier outlined his skin.

The Bone-Beast threw Jargos up a dozen feet before lurching up to tear at him. The shield stopped the creatures claws and as the two came crashing down to earth, Jargos tore off its first right hand. The two landed down in a struggle, Jargos and the Bone-Beast roaring and growling as they went at it. Jargos grabbed the left head and wrenched it off the body before using it as a bludgeon to back the monster up



Several members of the village had gathered around a sphere that showed them the outside world, and they were shocked and appalled by the monstrosity the outsider had become. He was more than strange before, but now he was a thing from a dark nightmare. They barely acknowledged the fact he was fighting a creature made from bones and dark magic

Layla clenched her fists and made a set of movements. "Jargos, give it everything you've got. I've got enough power to stop his blows from injuring you for a short while. Use it to your advantage while I can hold it this powerful!"

Jargos tossed the skull aside and lunged for the Bone-Beast's spine. He barreled through its ribs and crunched the vertebra in his powerful jaws, rending the column free from the monster. The Bone Beast lashed out, hurling Jargos through a tree, which then collapsed on the terrible creature. Jargos got up and ran over to where the Bone Beast was and howled out. He snarled and growled as he tried to hold himself back. He thrashed about.



"Quickly, before he regains his strength! Get him away from here!" One of the villagers shouted at a few member of the Guard

Layla ignored the sounds of the villagers and used her ability of earth to form stone and vine restraints. "That'll keep him still for now, but there's no telling how long it'll hold him."

Jargos brought himself to his knees but was still roaring and growling. His runes' glow faded from white to red. His body shrank ever so slightly, but not really enough to be noticeable while he thrashed against himself.


Four members of the Guard left the village to carry out the general wish of the village. Jargos was a monstrosity, and he had lied to them. He wasn't human in their eyes, he was a thing, a creature who deserved no sanctuary in their village. Airen was one of the Gaurds who came out

Layla ran out and stood in front of the Guards as they were appearing. "You can't take him in for being who he is. For being a creature, a human, of another clan. He's different, so what? We all are different in our own ways. If you don't like that, then you might as well take me instead of him. And, being the one that brought him here, I take full responsibility. Not him." Airen looked at her, then looked back at the other Guards.

"Layliana, you know I don't want to have to take you to Elder Ramona, even if you are right."

Jargos howled out as he began the painful shift back. To transform to his true self was simple, but to contain it in a semi-human looking form was excruciating to say the least. After much growling and roaring in pain, Jargos returned to his common form, the only problem being that his kilt had been torn off by his growing body and his boots as well. Jargos was there indecent and restrained, but did good to cover himself by shifting around. He breathed heavily and his runes faded to black. As he opened his eyes, they were entirely coal black once more. He looked around, and saw the Guards


The Guards saw him change back and decided that now would be the best time to subdue him and take him away from the village. They advanced

Layla finally grew enraged. "You of all people should know that there are more creatures that are going to be more powerful than us. That are going to be weaker than us. We are supposed to be neutral. Not judging. He just saved all of your lives and my own. If you can't be content with that, then you might as well all be dead. That's what you'd be if he hadn't come when he did. You all have him to thank for your life. For the village being safe. The Elders? If they had foreseen this, they would've warned the village and taken action. I told all of the Guards to round up the villagers and send them to safety. Were all of you just wanting this to happen? Is this really the cruelty of us as the Zeiza Clan? No, it's not! We're born by the nature given to us by our deity, and she herself would not have asked this of you all. And by my hand, I won't let you take him away for Jargos' birth right!"

Layla's eyes grew to a very bright white. Her aura glowed around her hands. "I'm a Warrior. Not a coward like all of you. You can't stand watching someone stronger than you live. If you all knew I had the power of the ancients, then why didn't you do something as a child? Because you thought you could use me as a figurehead and stand with you. Not here against you. If this is how you want it, then I'll die defending him."

Jargos broke the restrains an then took a fallen tree limb to cover himself up. he looked to Layla, shocked and awed



The Guards steeled themselves over and the four split up to attack. Two went for Jargos, Airen included, and two went for Layla. Jargos did not move, he stood his ground and took the hits

Layla still kept her shield up over Jargos, but she wasn't sure as to how long she could hold it. "Airen, I'm warning you to get out of here. I don't want to hurt you because you know I care about you. But if you're willing to push it then you're willing to risk your life in combat with me. Not with someone weaker. You have no right to take advantage of someone who has no strength to fight." Layla sent large rocks flying at Airen. They were flying fast. She turned her attention back to the other Guards. "You both might as well quit now." Layla twirled and a ring of fire started to form around her. "Rage is like fire. It burns into the soul."

Jargos remained still, not defending himself



"I have a duty to the village, Layliana!" He shattered the rocks with small burst of flame and continued to wail on Jargos' shield, trying to get to him

"Being a Guard isn't about taking down those that are stronger. It's about keeping the village at peace. What as he done to the village? He has defended it, you coward! You lost your honor as a Guard when you decided to try to seize both of us! We did not attack you. YOU attacked us!" The fire became more powerful around her. She was careful not to touch the trees, in fear of causing a massive fire. "Fight like a man, Airen!"

"My duty is to protect against any threat! Foreign or Domestic! Back off, she's mine!" He called out, and the other three stood down. He looked at Jargos with disgust, but Jargos remained motionless, still looking straight ahead. He went to Layla and took a stance. As soon as he left, Jargos disappeared. He was cast away by Elder Ramona, who had stepped out of the village to do the deed herself
