| "Alan, why do you think they went after my family? They've known. When they found out about the Elites, they found out about the war. They found out about the Elites when the war began. That's why the hunted all of us. That's the reason the group went further. They now participate in the war. They try to find elementals, any Elites, any person like that, and kill them."
Zelda stood up, wanting the night to be over with already, and stepped up to Alan. "They wanted me dead so my family line would end. So there would be one less Elite born into the next generation. I don't know how, but, they knew I was the bridge of the realms. They didn't kill me because they wanted me to suffer. They want me, my daughter, my husband, and every last person I know dead so there's no more interference. They took my mother's life, my father's, my sister's, and left me practically an orphan through most of my childhood. I lived on my own with no place to go, Alan. I had no one to count on. Do you know why I didn't trust you for a long time? Because I had no idea who I could trust. That's why, all those years ago, my heart was frozen. I was lost. I had to care for myself at ten years old. I don't know how I managed until the day I found my way to the agency. I don't even know why I went there anymore... I don't even know what had drawn me to Heron. There was something about him that gave me the hope I needed to last."

| Zelda smiled slightly, at least knowing things would be alright for the time being. She soon fell asleep, although she didn't know if she was asleep or not. The silence was deadly, and it frightened her slightly. Pushing it out of her mind, she focused on her own late night exhaustion and fell asleep.
