Just another day in the Apocalypse

"What kind of work did you do, if you don't mind me asking" He asked her

She's a bit reluctant to say much. "Well, I can tell you that the organization was mostly disbanded after a problem we ran into." She shrugs. "Take a wild guess. Get it right and I guess I'll tell you."

Keith shrugged. He had one guess, but that's all it was. "WOOTU?"

She didn't expect him to know, but she wasn't one to break a promise. Dare holds silence for a couple of minutes. "Yeah... It was WOOTU. But none of the work I did with them I'm proud of. We brought to the world something we didn't expect, and now all agents are wanted dead or alive by the government."

Keith had to know "Did you know Dr Higgans?"

"I knew a lot of people, Keith. You're gonna have to be specific. Give me a bit of info."

He exhaled a deep breath "He worked on Project Alpha with the US Marines" Keith reached into his pocket and tossed Dare his pack of patches

"Alright, well, I heard a bit of word on some underground project. So what was it all about?"

"Super Soldiers. He spearheaded bio-research into improving Marines to fight wars on a higher level. He helped make me" Keith said

She laughed under her breath. "Well, maybe he and his "super soldiers" can get us out of this war we're about to get in."

"Maybe. He said as he took his patches back and put them back in his pocket

Dare looked over into the fire. Her badge had not burned. "The government is still tracking agents down. I'm one of the few that made it out, but I know they have my name if the head left the records."

"I'll keep you safe" Keith said. His mind was racing, wondering how long this zombie thing would last, or if it was permanent.

She laughs under her breath. "I've been managing to keep myself safe for a year or so now, but I stay under the table as long as I can."

"I don't know how much longer there'll be a table. Zombies . . ." Keith said. He shook his head "Get some sleep, we've got a long day tomorrow"

Dare moves her hands behind her head, though hisses in pain as she does it. "I fight them, though I might as well be one of them. If you knew exactly what we did, you'd probably turn me in. Besides. I've got more knowledge on the project than most. The head and I were probably the highest of the group."

Keith stayed awake all night, watching out for the camp. He did regular perimeter checks and kept everyone safe. At dawn, he woke everyone up and helped them pack up, but he looked as if he had gotten a great night's sleep, no one knew he hadn't slept. Matt and Sasha were ready to go, Marc was already in their truck. Keith waited by the Jeep for Dare

Dare hardly slept at all, as she mostly had a migraine all night, and goes to meet up with Keith.

"I'll drive if you aren't feeling well" Keith offered as he put his stuff in the back

"I hate to ask, but it might be better if you do." She laughs. "It's not to easy to drive with a throbbing headache."

"Don't worry about it" Keith got into the drivers seat and got ready to go. They drove off, back on the road to North Carolina

As they came into the state, Dare gave Keith instructions on how to get to Joey, though by this point she ensured to keep a hood over her head as she feared anyone watching for her.

Keith followed her instructions and in two hours, they were at their destination

Dare gets out of the car and motions for everyone but Keith to stay outside. She didn't want Joey become scared, as he's been on the run like her.

Matt and Sasha shrugged it off, not really caring, but Marc was in some kind of investigative mode and snuck around a bit, but to no avail. Keith followed Dare
