Just another day in the Apocalypse

Matt nodded "Agreed, let's go, before those things get any closer" He maneuvered the truck and let everyone in. Sasha nodded to Dare "Where's your car?" She asked. Keith hopped into the bed of the truck. Marc got in the rear, passenger side seat

"Alvarez's Garage, just around the corner." Dare jumps into the back of the truck. "I'll lead the way on my car."

Sasha and Matt nod and then speed along the streets to the garage. As they turn the last corner, a grim look covers their faces, a horde is right out front of the garage. Without a word, Keith jumps from the bed of the truck onto the street. While he was in the back, he suited up, arming himself with his weapons of choice.

Back in Soldier mode, Keith advanced forward, ready to strike. The zombies in the back noticed him first, and then charged at him with speed. In a flash, Keith's Indian War Club demolished the first, second, and then third zombie. More tried to surround him, but his adrenaline was pumping and he knew how to use it to his advantage. He swung like a powerhouse in an overhead motion, sending his club barreling through the zombies, crushing them under the force of the attack. He unsheathed his Heavy Machetes and went to work hacking and slashing his way through the horde. Matt and Sasha jumped out to go and help him

Dare stood to stand on the top of the truck, pistol in hand and shooting as rapidly as she can at the rising horde. "Get back, you bast****! That's mine!"

Matt pulled a shotgun from the bed of the truck, and Sasha pulled a rifle and they began firing into the horde. Keith made his way through and back, thinning the ranks of the un-dead significantly, letting the guns take the rest with ease. Keith sheathed his weapons and picked his war club back up before trading the club for his mace. With a mighty swing, he used the mace to crush the lock on the garage door

Dare jumps down from the truck and rolling to avoid injuring herself. After the lock is hit open, she yells, "Everyone back to the truck!" She had a jeep, one capable of bashing down anything in its way.

Keith dashed back into the bed of the truck, but Sasha and Matt were already there and ready to follow Dare

Within moments, Dare's driving rather harshly to push the zombies out of the way. "Come on, guys. We're off to the south!" She leads the way rather fast to get away from the following horde.

Matt drives right behind Dare

Dare hurries along. With an Earnheart sticker behind her head and a bottle of Coke, she was outright feeling relaxed and ready to head to her home state.

Keith, being careful not to be seen, moved the sleeve of his coat up and took what looked like a nicotine patch off his wrist and tossed it to the wind. He exhaled and dug into his secretive backpack, pulling a small carton of patches out and putting them into his coat pocket. Keith was trying to relax and let himself process what was happening. Matt and Sasha held hands as Matt drove, trying to comfort each other. Marc was in the back seat, quiet as the grave.

Dare was rather relaxed on the straight roads, though there was no doubt that she was restless. Memories flowed back in her mind from so long ago. Memories of WOOTU, what is and what nearly was. She looked down and pulled a small badge on the inside of her coat. It was gold, engraved with the name of the organization. She felt regretful, angry, and at the same sad. It would be some time before she could move on from her deadly past.

Very few people were on the roads, mostly, it was pile ups and zombies every so often. It was as if someone turned a switch, that's how fast it had happened. It had only been a few hours, but it looked like whatever happened had spread wide . . . or had it? A horrible idea came into Keith's mind, what if Denver wasn't the only city this happened in? Zombies could literally be anywhere. Maybe this had happened much earlier in other cities but communication was lost and there was no way for them to warn others. Keith shook the thoughts from his head, it was too much to think about for now. Marc, however, was not only on the same thought train, but he purposely broke the brakes, wanting to see just how far the rabbit hole went

As they moved farther south, it slowly became more foggy. Dare called out, "Guys, hold steady. It's getting bad foggy out." She turns on her headlights and tries to see past the fog."

Keith shut his eyes, trying to get some sleep. Using a tarp as a blanket, and to keep himself dry in the fog, he drifted off. Marc's mind ran a mile a minute, thinking of how he could exploit this devastation to his advantage. Matt drove carefully as Sasha grew uneasy

As the road slowly grew foggier, it was harder to see. Out of the blue, going on a straight road at about 50mph on the highway, something suddenly hits into Dare's jeep and sends it somewhat off the path until it flipped onto its side.

"The sound of the impact jolted Keith awake as Matt slammed on the breaks. Marc was pulled from his trance as Sasha threw her door open, rifle in her hands, and went to investigate. Keith grabbed only the mace and went around the other side, looking for Dare.

Through the fog, moaning could be heard relatively close to them. It wasn't Dare's voice. Zombies were slowly approaching in the fog as it slowly thinned. Dare's jeep had ran into one and the creature laid dead on the ground. The impact was enough to force the jeep over when she skidded slightly to avoid it.

Keith began to search for Dare a bit more frantically. Sasha and Matt were covering him. While Sasha and Matt couldn't see, Keith took one of the mysterious patches from his pocket and put it on his wrist. His hissed in pain, but when he opened his eyes back up, it was almost like seeing a different person. It was soldier mode. In a snap, Keith found Dare. She was out cold and her head was bleeding, but she had a stable and strong pulse. Keith squatted low gripping Dare's jeep, and in a show of sheer brute force and will, he rolled her car back onto it's wheels. He moved Dare to the passenger seat just as Matt and Sasha began firing at zombies, time was running out. Keith looked for substantial damage to Dare's jeep, but miraculously enough, the only damage was cosmetic, minus the driver side mirror. Keith motioned for Matt and Sasha to get back into their truck and follow him in the jeep. Starting it up and then roaring down the highway, Keith put distance between them and the zombies. Marc had seen Keith slip the mystery patch onto his wrist and then worked on figuring out what it was

Zombies slowly followed them far behind, though eventually gave up as they were too far to catch up.

Keith's mind was on fire, a roaring inferno, but he couldn't take the patch off yet, he needed the boost. After a few minutes of driving, the fog cleared and it was smooth sailing

Dare remained mostly unconscious for the next while. A phone vibrated in the cupholder of the jeep, the name reading "Joey."

Keith debated for a minute, then decided it would be best to answer the phone. He picked it up. "Hello?" He asked, unsure of what was going to come from the other end of the line

"Hey there, this is Joey. Is Dare around?"

"She asleep right now, do you need to speak to her?" He asked? Keith drove steady. Marc was working in his mind to figure out what the patch Keith had put on was, but so far he couldn't figure it out
