Misunderstood Destinies

Layla sighed and spoke, "Ever heard of the rumored village of Zeiza? Well, this village does exist. I'm from this village. People used to say it didn't exist. Well, it does. And we need your assistance."

"What in blazes for-" *Thunk* Jargos cut off his whining with an elbow to the temple. He picked him up and carried him

"I could not bear his complaints"

Layla shook her head and laughed a bit. "I was about to slap him silly, but it seems you beat me to it."

"Ah" He sighed a bit, then kept moving up the mountain. Something was wrong in the very air and he knew it. They were being watched

Layla glanced up at the sky. "It's nearing afternoon. Once we reach a suitable campsite, we should rest until tomorrow morning."

"Aye, that sounds good . . . Layla?" He asked

"Hm?" Layla replied. "What is it?"

"How many Warriors can be out at one time?"

"Warriors can be out as they please. That's why I was allowed to exit Zeiza freely and go to Garlan. Guards, however, have their patrolling system. Normally, only three to five members are in one patrol at a time."

"Ah, that brings me ease"

"Why do you ask, however? Is something wrong?"

"We're being watched from the trees" he said "I doubt they're here to fight us, just to watch us"

"They normally never venture outside of the village. Elder Ramona is expecting us, most likely."

"Aye. They know better than to tangle with us . . ."

"They'll back off, but Elder Ramona won't. Once we enter Zeiza in the morning, she'll be waiting. And I have a feeling I know what she wants."

"Thou shall feel no fear while I draw breath. I am indebted to thee, and as long as we are near, I shall abolish any threat"

"She won't hurt me, and I have no reason to fear her, but if I'm right then she's after something that will give her much power." Layla sighed. "Rumors among Garlan say that she is indeed a Dark Mage, and this does bother me. Brute strength is not going to stop her. It's going to take someone with enough magic to hold off hers, and I'm afraid to say that the only thing that may be able to combat her is the same magic that she's after that I've had since my birth."

Jargos nodded, still firm in his belief, but more than open to her

"I know the Runes are powerful, but if she is a Dark Mage and a Light Elf at the same time, though do not ask me how, she will run a high threat to all of us. Magic will battle magic, but I fear that the magic she holds will be enough to steal the Ancient Power I've had."

"Thou art stronger than the credit given by thine own hand"

Layla sighed. "Maybe." She still remained worried.

"I believe in thee. The power to save the world is in thine hands, I can feel it"

Layla glanced at her hands as they glowed in her sudden emotion over the power she rarely used. "It was a gift and a curse at the same time. I didn't want something that I couldn't control, and that's exactly what I got."

"You can do it, Layla" The voice of the young Jargos spoke. Jargos had formed him once more of light to illuminate the truth for her

Layla turned her head away from the voice. "We should stop soon. We're nearing Zeiza."
