Misunderstood Destinies

"And you wish me to deliver it?"

"Indeed. Just something to take with her on travels."

"If that is thine wish, it shall be done"

"Thank you, Jargos. If in the case you ever need to contact me, find one of the Guards and they'll send a message. I must go. My family is asking me to come home early tonight." He turned to leave. "If you run into trouble while here in Zeiza, I'll be there if you call."

"I thank thee, and wish thee a good evening"

Airen smiled. "No problem. And, thanks again." He exited.

Jargos, though tempted, did not open the satchel. He simply popped his joints and relaxed

Layla slept through most of the afternoon. Her powers had been restoring at a faster rate than before being that she hadn't used them so severely. By early evening, she had finally woke up.

Jargos was still awake when Layla awoke. He nodded to her. While she slept, he had been letting energy flow through his body, channeling it into his runes

Layla looked out the window. The moon was just rising above the horizon. "Good lord. I was out that long?" She laughed a bit. "Well, good evening, then."

"Good evening" He replied. then pulled out the satchel. "Airen came bearing a gift of some sort"

Layla sat up and accepted the satchel. She untied it and poured the contents on the blanket in front of her. Golden-colored seeds and a necklace come out. She reached inside the small sack and pulled out a note.

On the front, it read:

"Two items, my gifts,
to my one true love.
The way your spirit lifts
compare only to wings of a dove.
I wish you love and luck
as you travel the lands.
And if you ever get stuck,
take these items in hand."

On the back,
"Layliana, although I cannot stop your wishes to continue on with Jargos, I give you these items. The necklace is made from pure moonstone. A treasure to symbolize that as long as the moon shines bright, I will be able to look at it and know you can feel the same as I. Theresa once said moonstones held magical properties. Maybe you can solve the theories.

The second item I give you is Light Seeds. When the darkness has overcrowded you and Jargos, throw the seeds to the ground and light will show the way.

Jargos did not read the note, but instead closed his eyes and began to breath in deeply

She looked at the necklace. The pendant was a crescent moon shape. Inside, a white stone was inside it. Layla tied it around her neck and walked over to the window. The light in the room reflected her appearance, thus making a mirror for her to look at.

Jargos let energy from the center of his being float to the surface, just beneath his skin. He got into a horse stance, his eyes still closed, and his breathing still deep. He let his runes begin to glow blue

Layla turned back around to place the seeds back in the bag. She noticed Jargos' stance and did not speak to avoid interrupting.

Jargos began a series of movements. He would take one step forward, sending his left arm to his side, claws bared, then a step to the right, retracting his arm, and sliding his leg out behind him. He kept up these movements, back, left, right, back,forward, arm, leg, leg, claw, arm, bite. Soon, he picked up a small amount of speed and it almost looked like a dance

Layla wasn't exactly sure what Jargos was doing. She observed quietly.

Jargos forgot where he was, what time it was, everything. He was only conscious of himself, yet knew where not to step so he did not break anything. He moved faster, his body making less and less noise as it loosened up. He let his runes glow brightly, soon they were like lights coming from under his skin. After one minute, he became a blur, shifting the air around him and heating up the entire hut

Layla could tell the temperatures in the air were rising. She didn't know the power of the Runes but she was amazed.

Jarogs suddenly stopped back in the center of the room, in a perfect horse stance, His breathing calm and deep as if he hadn't moved an inch. The clear blue light coming from his skin broke free and took shape into a blue Timber wolf and a blue Grizzly bear. The two circled around Jargos and then a second bear and a second wolf joined in from his skin. Soon, there were dozens of full sized animal made from the light of his runes. They passed through the walls and through the objects in the hut, but were careful and polite not to walk through Layla. Then moved around and through Jargos while he remained completely motionless. The wolves and bears shone brightly as they moved

Layla giggled a bit to the courtesy of the animals. She took a step back to offer more room.

The bears and the wolves partnered up, and fused into one, then fused again, and again, until one one hybrid Timer Grizzly remained. It stood before Jargos on two legs like a bear, and bore an almost twin like similarity to him. The Wolf-Bear hand the same runes as him, and though the beast was much larger, anyone could see that the beast that stood before Jargos and Jargos himself were one and the same. Jargos' eyes were still closed, but he was fully aware of everything around him once more. The beast dropped to all fours, it's large fluffy tail swinging behind him, his massive body a perfect cross between a bear and a wolf

Layla walked quietly over to a nearby chair to sit down. She continued to watch.

Jargos opened his eyes and stepped back, the beast did the same. Jargos began to growl and snarl, but not menacingly, he was speaking a language known to the beasts. It was growls and body language. Despite his speaking in a different tongue, Layla could understand the discussion between Jargos and the Beast.


"Great Elder, and Honored Ancient, I thank thee for coming at my call."

"Oh, our child, thine always has our ear. Speak, Ruler of Darkwood and Guardian Beast, what is tine need"

"I wish of thee, Elder, to give protection to the one I am indebted to, and myself while we travel. Dark mages are trying to use thine children as tools of war. Our bodies are strong, but our mind are vulnerable"

"We see . . . Our children . . ." The beast looked at Layla "Come forward, child of the mountain, we shall not harm thee"
