| "One down." Ryou told Cathy. Ryou asked, "What class do you have next?"

| "At least I've got a spare set of clothes in a locker in the locker room. I don't know if he's going to be doing gym itself or swimming today. This year is the first year they offered classes for swimming." | |

| "Well, we'll have to wait and see. My only problem with Swim Class is that, well--" "You two need to get to your next class. If you're late, your grades won't stay straight." Mrs. Hertz smiled and chuckled a bit at her poem.

| Ryou saw something flash before his eyes. Ryou whispered in a malicious, serious tone that clearly indicated something was up. "Get to class. I'll catch up later."

| Cathain sighed. "Alright." She left and headed on to class. Jim announced that today they'd have Swim Class. In the locker room, Shannon McKenna met up with Cathain. "What's wrong, kiddo?" "I finally thought I'd have a day where I could avoid Swim Class." "You've always done wonderfully in this class. What's wrong?" "Wonderfully? I've managed basics, and that's it. I'm barely passing the rest of it. Starting today, Jim is teaching the advanced course." "What's so wrong with that?" "I can't swim, Shannon. Never could. All I can do is float. Barely could manage the other courses." "You'll be fine today." "And if I panic?" "Don't. Just don't panic."

| Ryou's aura became visible as he attacked the object with a flame that seeped from his aura. He heard an electrical explosion, a slight one. He saw a weird creature as he paused. Xana's eye was visible on the creature. "A krankalat... Xana is manipulating the devirtualization process to materialize monsters in the real world? The pool... no... the scyphozoa..."
Cathy's phone rang in the locker room. "Ryou, how did you get my number--"
"--Get dressed now! Get into your school clothes. Don't change for swim class! Get onto Lyoko! Xana activated a tower! He's materializing monsters and sending them to kill us. I just got rid of a krankalat. He might materialize a scyphozoa! Run!"
A krankalat just appeared as he looked at Ryou. The field of vision was red as he scanned Ryou's image. "Root Admin Ryou" appeared with an ID card from Lyoko onto the screen. The krankalat's gathered as they attempted to eliminate Ryou. Ryou quickly coated the area with the energy the monsters were giving off as he destroyed them all using his powers.

| Cathain grabbed her back and quickly left the locker room. "Cathain O'Connor, where on Earth are you going? Get back here! You've got class!" Jim yelled. He started in pursuit. "Sorry, Jim, but I've gotta dash!" Cathain ran past Principal Delmas, quickly dashing out the door to the forest. Making it into the Sewers, Cathain was not seen. Jim and Delmas were left puzzled. She arrived on the Factory Floor, waiting on the elevator.

| "Take that you magnificent bast***!"
The elevator door opened as Ryou waved to Cathy. The computer room was covered with blood and krankalot corpses. A corpse of a scyphozoa was also visible on the floor. Ryou's face was covered with his own blood and his clothes had scratches from the attacks where blood leaked out. Ryou smiled as he spoke, "I think I might be overdoing it." His smile became an innocent, yet malicious grin. He continued, "I'll set up the scanner for you. I already purified that room." His aura vanished as the wounds closed up.

| "Alright. Just make sure they don't destroy the scanner. If they do, I can't come back in if I'm devirtualized. Meaning, it'll kill me. XANA will still be able to devirtualize some of his monsters and bring them here while scanners are available. If they do, let me know. I have a back-up plan." She smiled as the elevator headed to the scanner room. | |

| "Xana won't be doing that anymore. The password is 'jellyfishie' to activate the scanner. So yell it loud when I say 'scanner' to get through. Otherwise, I'll have to do it, since you won't be able to get to Lyoko again for a while."

| "XANA has his ways around it. Remember, we've been resetting time quite frequently. He could've found a way. I researched last night in the towers something about a digital key that each person has when they come and leave from Lyoko. Something tells me that's what XANA is after this go 'round." She stepped up to the scanner. "Get the program ready." | |

| "I already found it out. You see, a digital key is like an encryption. It tells Lyoko that you are the owner of the data your body owns, which makes your image onto Lyoko. It's your own identification card. Now, this digital key is locked with a password. If Xana knows the password, he can claim ownership of the digital key. When you return to the real world, the digital key is destroyed. It is recreated when you go back on. The real question is: Why do I have a materialized, digital key from Lyoko?"
The key began to glow.
"You see, this key is my own digital key. It glows in response to me. That confirms that it's my body's data. If the digital key has materialized into this key right here, then it can provide remote access to Lyoko. After all, when my permissions were upgraded to root admin, my data was updated as well, and thus, the key glowed and changed along with it. If Xana could create his own key as well, he could remotely control Lyoko. When he and I clashed at my old school, his digital key rejected him. It grew upon me, and changed its own data to match my own. Why did his digital key do such a thing? That's why I have Xana's powers. But now, Xana tried to steal it. The key protected me. Why is the key still rejecting Xana? Is it because it had already rejected him once and attached itself to me, that it can never go back? What is this property that made this key materialize into the real world and yet maintain properties to remain as a digital key? How was my Lyoko ID card so easy to register? Was it because this key had alredy converted my body's image into data that Lyoko can read and output to virtualize onto Lyoko?"
Ryou paused.
"This key for some reason has a real, definite shape. Since it belongs to a real body and not a digital one, it became real itself. But a digital key should provide one with access to powers on the Lyoko network. Your digital key defines your image and powers on Lyoko. It is recreated based on the digital key embedded into your registered ID card. The mystery is why I have the same thing, but in the real world? Xana wants to know this. If he can find out a way to create a key that can coexist in the real world and Lyoko and provide the user remote access to Lyoko, he can mass produce that. He can use the factory to create machinery that can utilize these keys. However, this is a special key. It seems to have an attachment to me. It is a part of me that is coexisting as a medium to my powers that should be only available on Lyoko. What if Xana can create a Lyoko out of the real world? What if he can create monsters that can attack on the real world? Right now, he can only create weak forms like that of himself to project into the real world. What if he gave the krankalots keys like mine so that their powers on Lyoko could coexist in the real world and do real damage? What if he could combine properties of Lyoko like fast generation of health to his monsters in the real world?"
Ryou paused again.
"Now, what can we do as Team Lyoko, to take advantage of this situation? I have a key that coexists in both worlds that provides me with root access to Lyoko. This key will follow me onto Lyoko and back to the real world. What if this key could bring back other things from Lyoko? What if this key could let me edit other keys? What if I could edit your digital key and remove the Lyoko connection myself? What can we do?"

| "Right now, the only thing we can do is keep the key out of XANA's hands. Keep him away from the computer itself and away from the scanners. If he brings out the Scyphozoa, he can steal a temporary set to keep one of us on Lyoko and keep us from going back. I've already been hit by it once, but I don't know what he did or what he stole. He did something, but it'll be up to me to find out. He's going to do everything possible to get back to the real world. And because I'm the only one who's making the Lyoko trips at the moment, I'll be the target on Lyoko while you are in the real world. Listen, I don't want the Lyoko Connection removed. If it is, it could keep us from information we need. Yes, we can shut down XANA, but what good will it do us? For all we know, he could have another network that he's building. We don't know. But until we find out, we've got to have something that'll keep him from shutting his own system down. He knows we can't turn off the computer. If he has a back-up, then there's nothing to worry about at the moment. Now, if someone such as the police comes in and shuts it down, then we'll have something to worry about. And when that time comes, which it will if Delmas and Jim find my location, we'll have only one other choice.
We'll have to deactivate the scanners, and shut down Lyoko until there's another plan.
Listen, I know that one of these days, the police are going to find their way here. We're going to need to find someone who can back you up if something happens to the computer. If XANA keeps devirtualizing monsters to the real world, I'll have to stay on Lyoko and you'll have to shut down the scanners. I know it sounds crazy, but it's better safe than sorry.
But, until that day comes, let's get to Lyoko. You've got a computer to operate, and I've got a tower to deactivate."

| "Here's the truth. The network's name is Digisea. It's located beneath the Digital Sea. He will at this rate eventually gain control of several super computers in different labs around the world. That is my hypothesis. I am preparing at double the rate, a way for you to go into the digital sea safely and for you to be virtualized into these labs with digital keys. Until I can figure out how I jailbroke this key, your Lyoko connection cannot be broken. I can break it any time. But Xana will find out and know that we know. I bluffed about the police coming in a week. If they did, they wouldn't be able to come here. The elevator is broken. It responds to our handprints only. The handprint scanner is hidden. Only we know where it is."

| "There's another way up to the main room. A couple others, actually. But if we don't get a move on, Delmas will call the police because I left school property. I don't want to launch a return for the sake of XANA getting powerful, but I don't know if we have a choice. Get the program ready, I don't want to sit here forever." | |

"Transfer Cathy."
"Scanner."
The password was yelled out as a check appeared on the screen.
"Virtualization!"
