Alan followed Zelda's warning as he backed away slowly, still watching the battle.

The wolves began walking their way toward her again. Zelda was already in rage, and wasn't taking anything that nearly killed her daughter. One started running her way, and she took her claws and raked them across its face. "Normally, I never approve of animal abuse. But, you are not animals. You act like demons sent from Hades. If you hold back, then you're a coward. Attacking innocents is something I do not tolerate. And I do not tolerate anyone attacking my daughter!" Zelda's rage mixed in with her natural spirit aurora, forming a dark red. All of the creatures immediately jumped on top of her, scratching, biting, or clawing. Zelda didn't back down, and she was barely even feeling any thing that attacked her. With a quick twist, a ram into a tree and a roll on the ground in the shuffle, all of them were thrown off of her. Each one left with a scar that she inflicted to keep their distance. It wasn't until they retreated that Zelda realized the area was spotted with blood, and that blood was dripping heavily from her own wounds. When she sensed another spirit nearby, one she thought was merely foreign but was truly Alan, she quickly ran off to the back of the forest, escaping Alan's view entirely.

The wolves got up and looked at Alan. They went to attack as Alan gave them a stare. The first wolf, the pack leader, froze, whimpering as he backed away. "Don't mess with me." Alan said in a dark, firm voice. The wolves ran off away from Alan and the direction Zelda was heading.

"Go get ready, Alan." "Very well."

When Zelda's rage had settled, and the aurora had disappeared, the pain of the wounds had returned. She returned to the back of the lake, far from Alan's location, and glanced into the water. Returning the glance, she saw her spiritual appearance and her entire body carrying large wounds that were bleeding heavily. She formed a veil of water that flowed over the wounds and washed off part of the blood, staining the grass. Zelda realized she had already been in her spiritual form too long and had to return to her human form in the Spirit Realm. Glancing back into the water, the wounds remained, and the blood stained her outfit.

"Darn it... I've been using my spiritual form too long, and I'm already injured badly. My powers are too far low for the return trip. There's no way I'm going to last here if I don't find some way out..."

Zelda felt a hand on his shoulder as she saw Alan giving her the "Look what you did" stare. She felt a sharp pain in her wrist as Alan healed most of the deep injuries. "You have about a week before the temporary scars vanish, but you'll be okay. Just don't act stupid. I think we're grown past that by now. But... some things never do change..." Alan sighed as he faded into the wind. Zelda was all alone again.

"I'm not letting someone get away with attacking Maya. Even you should know that. It wasn't being stupid, it was protecting her," Zelda thought. She wasn't exactly happy with Alan's statement, and swore that when her powers had built back up then she would knock him hard.

Back in the mortal realm, Maya had finally awakened after being out cold for what seemed like several hours. She glanced outside, and it was still night time. When Maya glanced at her hands, she realized that the scrapes and all had disappeared. "How did I get back here? Or healed, for that matter?"

Alan was in the room as he gave Maya a cold stare. Yet, she felt as if he was hiding something, feeling as if he was incapable of giving his usual warm smile. Alan suddenly faded into the wind as Maya attempted to get up.

Maya stood up, glancing around. "Alright, something's up with you and I'll find out eventually." Maya went searching around the agency for Alex to see if he knew where Alan went.

Alex ran into Maya as he asked, "Did you see my dad? I saw him suddenly appear, giving me a nod, as he faded into the wind."

"Something's up with him. Your dad acting strange, my mom on the disappearing act, something is going on."

"Time, they are coming."
"I am aware, Alan. The wolves were only the first of the invasion. They wanted to test the Guardian, but had accidentally attacked her daughter, instead."
"WHat were they?"
"Messengers of death."
"What were they trying to message?"
"You should know."
"Yeah, I know, but still, why Maya? Why Zelda?"
"She is the weakest."

Alan raised an eyebrow. "Her? The weakest? Greenland isn't Greenland without both Zelda and I."

"She and Rideem are weak."
"And me?"
"You're good to go."
"Why? We're all equally strong."
"No. You are different."
"What do you --?"

Time suddenly launched an attack as Alan saw a black space. "You will die in darkness."

"Enough."

The space was destroyed as his attack was ruined. "You have defied time."

"Hm?"
"You just beat time."
"All I did --"
"-- What you experienced was instant death."
"Instant death is where someone is lost in time permanently. You avoided my attack."
"How?"
"That is why you are strong. This is why I decided to interact with you."
"I don't understand."
"You can control time and manipulate life itself. You are just like me."
"But why?"
"You have the gift."
"Why?"
"Why don't you ask Zelda?"
"What do you mean?"
"You can travel through time."
"I'm not stupid. I'm not going to influence time itself for a stupid question."
"Common sense. I value that."
"Oy. Can you just tell me--"
"-- You possess the inner spirit of Wind. You can manipulate the element perfectly. You can read other people's minds. You can travel through the planes. You can control time and life itself. Did you ever question why?"
"Well, yeah, I did."
"It's all in the mark."

Alan's mark began to glow as the computer screen lit up.

SUBJECT: HUMAN.
CLASSIFICATION: IMMORTAL.
POWER LEVELS: ERROR.
NAME: ALAN LANGSTON.
STATUS: ELITE.

Alan asked, "W... Wait... an M?"

"Now you're thinking outside the box."
"Wait... M... M... Mind sync..."
"There we go, boy."
"Wait..."

Alan felt his vision blur as he fell to the floor unconscious.

"I never told you Phase C because you were going to find out yourself. Phase C, Renewal, check."

Zelda was aggravated with the fact she was stuck in the Spirit Realm until her powers went back to normal. She heard a small sound. Footsteps, perhaps? She was unsure. A figure covered in black garments had appeared. Although, Zelda could tell it was human. The figure carried two blades. They placed one into a sheathe and threw it to Zelda. "What do you want?" she asked. The person took a fighting stance, the other blade in hand. "They want me to fight them. But, why?"
Zelda placed the sheathe on her belt and pulled out the blade. Both of them went into combat.

Alan awakened from his vision, his mark turning from a W to an infinity symbol. The infinity symbol became an L as it suddenly switched to a W and then an M. The mark then vanished. It then appeared again with the infinity symbol. Within the two loops were a W and an M. "I see your powers matured." "I understand. Let's go." "Understood."

Zelda watched the figure's movements and realized they were focusing on strength and strategy. "Okay, so, obviously, strength won't work. I've been focusing on strength for some of my battles."

Zelda changed her tactics to moving swiftly and using her skills rather than her strength. The two were matched in strength. When both of them were far too tired to battle, the figure stood still with the blade in hand. The blade was returned to the sheathe as Zelda did the same with hers. She took the blade and placed it on the ground in front of her, and then took a step back. The figure walked up to her, picking up the blade. Removing the mask it wore, Zelda saw it was a female. "Who are you?" she asked.

"A friend to the Guardian of the Elite only."

The female placed the two blades on her belt.
"I'm here because of you. And, I can only visit you in this realm. This is the only realm we are safe. You must come with me. There are visitors we cannot have nearby."

"When are we?" "Funny that you ask that, rather than where. We are in the past, at Zelda's house."

"I come to you because there are things that you need to be prepared for. I'm here to assist in something that you cannot do alone. That's advancing your powers, your mark, and your form in general. There are things you need to learn and the Guardian always needs someone for an assist. Each Guardian in the Elite line has advanced very far in their powers, to the point of altering their inner spirit to other forms."

Alan walked inside of Zelda's house to see a group of men yelling. They did not see him or hear him. He was only a spirit that was observing. "Those were the guys?" "Yes, the first group of messengers for you and Zelda." "Maya and Alex--" "--Those wolves and the other messengers were theirs."

"I'll only assist with your permission."
"So be it. You have my permission."
The female placed her hands together, and a large barrier formed. The barrier and everything within it became invisible. Any spirit that crossed their path would not be able to find them until the barrier was released.
"First off, my name is Rena. You can call me a trainer of the Elite, but I'm a bit more like a tutor. Assisting where one alone cannot. By our battle, I can tell that first you focused on core strength. For you, you cannot do that. The Elite of Willpower is focused around core strength in combat. Offense. You need to be focused on skill and speed. Skill that can move you around the field and give you good offense and defense, and speed that allows you to move quickly and think quickly. As a Guardian, it's not strength that necessarily matters. Although, strength does help. But, it's not a key in your case."

"Now what?" Time asked, giving up on the search. "Over here." Alan said. "About time." "You didn't even look." "I wasn't sensing anything." Alan and Time found Zelda and Little hiding in their rooms.

"Growing up, I always fought with strength rather than skill. And, that's because there were people always trying to destroy my family. The night that my sister and I were separated was the hardest thing for us. My mother and father were murdered, my sister and I were torn apart and locked in a metal prison."
"And that is understandable. But, now, you need to prepare for things ahead where core strength cannot be used. It's not the power that matters, it's the person that wields them."

Alan quickly touched the necklace around Little's neck, remembering the energy signature as he released his grip. He remained invisible to anyone in the vision. He went out to see Zelda's parents. They were killed. Alan and Time were already gone, back in their own time. "It was horrible." "Indeed." "We couldn't even stop them." "It was a vision. Nothing could be done."

"Now, I want to go ahead and finish unlocking the spiritual form you have beneath this serpent form you can hold as Aqua. You are in the basic form. A regular serpent. With the combination of Aqua's original Aquamarine bird, and the serpent, it should lead to a new form."
"How do we do that?"
"Activate the form and show me where the marking of the Elite still lies."
"I can't. My powers are too far weakened to do so."
"There isn't any time to wait. It's either now or never. There is only so much time I can hold this area open to us and closed to the outside world."
Zelda quickly took the form of Aqua, who was in the Serpent spiritual form. On her wrist, the marking remained. "A four legged serpent that can stand on two, the size of a human. And yet, it cannot fly? Now, that's odd," Rena stated. Taking Zelda's wrist, she formed a crystal in her hand by combining a small piece of the Elite power with her own power.
"I was given the power that would combine your old and new forms. With the Elite power, I can fully power the crystal that, in it's core, can combine the forms. A power is within it that allows the combine. Break it open, and it will do as you need it to."
Rena placed the crystal in Zelda's hand. Breaking it open a mist, or a type of gas, had formed around her. Her marking instantly glowed and a bright white light had flashed and lingered for a few moments. When it cleared, Zelda was back in her human form and unconscious.
"I will be back soon enough. The process must finish within you before I can complete the next task." Rena immediately disappeared in a flash of a light.

Time vanished from the room as Alan sighed. He went to his bed, laying down as he thought about what happened to Zelda's and the wolves' fight from before.
