Just another day in the Apocalypse

Cyrus waited on Matt to go forward, giving them enough of a diversion to get inside. "We're getting you home, Dare..."

Matt went around to the other side of the building and threw a rock at a window on the other side of the compound. He then threw another rock at a different window, causing a diversion. Keith darted to the lab door, opening it up and heading inside

Agents chased after Matt as Cyrus entered inside. It was mostly dark, but it was clear the room was a lab of sorts. Dare was alone in the room, now mostly unchained as she didn't have the strength to move.

Keith went to where Dare was chained and worked on finding a way to unchain her. He cursed under his breath a bit. "I'm sorry, Dare" He said. Matt darted around in circles, trying to buy time

Cyrus looked at the thin chains and pulled a bobby pin from Dare's hair. He used it gently on a lock. It clicked. "Just what we needed."

Dare struggled for consciousness. "Keith... Cyrus..." she shook her head in annoyance. "...Thanks."

"Don't thank me, I didn't keep my promise" Keith said as he held her up. They made their way to the door as Matt evaded capture like a boss. He was a football wide receiver in high school

Dare put her head against Keith's chest. "I can't move... I can't even think..."

Cyrus put a hand to her shoulder. "We're getting you home. Don't worry right now."

Keith made wis way to the hole in the fence, himself and Dare getting through without a problem. Matt had decided to take extra action. He opened the front gate and ran around, bolting in the opposite direction of the small town, buying them more time

The agents finally stopped, frustrated with the boy. One man said, "Let him go. We have what we need."

Cyrus said to Keith, "I know a place all of us can go. There's a local woman I met, really nice lady, and she said that if we ever got into trouble she'd give us a place to stay. Call up Matt and Sasha, I'll ring Joey. We're heading up to the border line."

"Good" Keith called Matt and then Sasha, telling them the plan

Cyrus led them on back to the truck after calling up Joey. He hands Keith his phone. "Take the GPS. I'm sitting with Dare in the back. I've got a medical bag that I put in the truck and I need to see what's going on."

Keith nodded and got the group going to the location Joey told them about

Cyrus sat in the back with Dare. He had never seen her so afraid, even if she was unconscious. He examined over her, giving her medicine treatments where he felt it necessary. Although he didn't have the equipment to check all of her body, he mostly figured it out. "It's what I was afraid of," he said. "It's a weakened version of the virus. I can talk to Joey regarding a cure, but, right now, it's going to be up to her immune system."

Keith grunted and nodded. He was so mad at himself that he couldn't even talk. They made their way to the location

As they pull up, so are the others. Joey hurries out of the car to meet Cyrus midway. Cyrus speaks a few quick words to Joey and motions for he and Keith to move Dare out of the truck and quickly. Cyrus hurries up the steps, pushing the doorbell, and waits.

Keith got Dare and with help from Cyrus made a line to the house. Matt andSasha were very worried about Dare

The door opened, and a woman stepped out onto the steps. She noticed Cyrus and asked, "What's going on, Cyrus?"

"Cathy, we need your help. The government's all over us again, and they hit Tallen big time."

"Come on in and we'll move to the guest room."

Keith followed the woman, helping Dare to the guest room

Joey quickly brings in a medical bag and moves beside Dare. Cyrus takes the rest of the group on to the main room. Cathy looks to Cyrus as he takes a seat. "Cy, what's wrong? What's goign on?"

"Someone got to Dare. Someone who wanted her dead or turned."

Keith left the room and went with Joey to the main room. Matt and Sasha were already there. non of them knew what to say

Joey put a small bandage on the spot where Dare had been injected. A vein was slightly visible, a carotid artery, that had been sightly agitated from the injection. On the second artery he injected what was the prototype cure they had been working on. It was incomplete, and Joey was still working on his research. He sighs. "It'll take a miracle to get her to tomorrow morning. If she can survive that long without being turned, she has a fighting chance. The body can't handle the virus, but she barely survived it once. If she did it once, she has a resistance. She can do it again."

Cyrus looks to the group. "Look, I hate to break it to all of you, but it'll be sheer luck if she gets through tonight. I want all of you to keep a pistol on you. If she's turned, you know what we have to do." He sighs. "I don't want to be the one pulling the trigger, and I have faith in Joey and in Dare, but if we have no choice then we have no choice."

Keith nodded then went outside to think

Cyrus watched Keith walk out and then followed him, wanting the same as Keith did. "You nervous too?" he asks.

"Yeah" Keith said, then spit on the ground "I let her down. I made this grand ol' speech to her about how i would keep her safe, and now she's knocking on death's door because i couldn't stop them from getting her"

"It happens. She thought she was going to be safe and she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. She'll get out of this. She always does."
