"Just curious, though, why are there some parts of the house that are burned?"
"I'm trying to give this place the condition it was before the fire and before the attack. Each week, my paycheck goes toward rebuilding this place. I told them to store it in my account as I was sending out orders to companies about renovations and things like that."
"The attack?"
"The night that your grandmother and grandfather were killed, and your aunt and I were separated. Your aunt is my sister. Although, I've been told she is dead today. I'm the last of the line except for you. And that is why I have my trait. Because it was my duty to guard innocents. Even at the cost of my own life."

Both of us had been infected by a virus that would kill us both -- Well, it did technically kill us -- and I had managed to heal both of us somehow. Thing is, I can't heal my own wounds any more. It's from the fact that I protect others and not myself in a way. But, anyway. This library will be yours someday."

| Maya looked up as another explosion occurred. Zelda pulled her down and pushed her to the corner away from debris.
"Stay down!" Zelda yelled.
Maya stayed in the corner as Zelda formed a barrier protecting the library. She then jumped out the window and pulled the scarf she wore over part of her face. Whoever was out there was either after Zelda, Maya, the library, or all three.

| Zelda did not hear a response and quickly went back inside to reach Maya. Maya was already about to go assist until Zelda pushed her back inside. Another explosion occurred and Zelda pushed Maya out of the line of fire. She was immediately thrown back into a bookcase, and it collapsed on her. Maya, immediately infuriated, jumped outside the barrier. The aurora around her turned almost black as her eyes took a gold color. A small earthquake occurred that shook the ground. It grew louder. The ground beneath her rose as she looked around for someone. When she saw a dark figure, she formed a wall around the area and trapped them.
"Attack my mother again, and I swear I'll kill you!" Maya said, her tone darker from rage. | |

| "Too late!" The shadow figure turned around as Alan gave it a black eye. The figure was thrown back towards the wall as Alan put his arm against its neck, locking it to the wall. "Mind Sync!" The shadow was destroyed, leaving behind rogue dark energy, which Alan's dark energy purified and consumed. The dark energy returned to Alan's body as he asked, "Are you alright? Where's Zelda?"

| Maya instantly clenched her fist and hit it into the wall. The wall broke apart and formed back into soft earth. Maya glanced at her fist, not feeling even an inch of pain. She took a moment to calm down, dispersing the black aurora. Remembering the incident in the library, she said,
"Holy... We've got to hurry!"
Maya ran back inside, looking for Zelda.
"Mom, where are you?"
When she saw the fallen bookcases, she quickly ran over to pick them up.
"Alan, I need your help. One person alone can't lift these." | |
