Destiny of Light

Luna walked over to the neighboring door and knocked. "Guys, we need to talk and it needs to be now. Can we come in?" Luna asked.

Layla looked at Jargos with a bit of concern on her face. She whispered, "I worry about telling what we've been discussing. Let them in if you want. We can take things as they come."

Kreig was right behind her


Jargos nodded and opened the door for the both of them

Luna walked in to the room with Kreig behind her. She stood closed the door behind the two of them and she propped up against the door with her arms crossed.

"Alright, I need some answers. I want to know what was in that bag that you two brought back. Because, whatever it is, I have a feeling is leading those forsaken Shadows here."

Kreig waited next to her

Jargos let Layla explain, she knew more than he did

Layla sighed and shook her head. She stood up and pulled the book from the bag. Marks glowed on her hand briefly before the book began to levitate above her left hand. With her right, she was flipping pages by with her magic. "I didn't exactly want to tell you, but this book has information on what we've been facing. You've been fearing the same thing I have. That this book they're beginning to target. I, too, have this worry. And that is why I've held on to it. It tells everything that Raven knew. Raven's dead, Lunalia. He left everything he knew to all of us in this book."

"Why didn't you tell me, then? What have you been hiding, Layla?"

"To be honest," she stated. The book closed but continued to levitate. She had rarely ever used that ability. "I didn't exactly expect you to ask. There was information in here I needed to decipher before even repeating it to either of you two. Even if you had gotten it, you wouldn't be able to read it. I'm the only one out of us that can speak and comprehend Elven. I'm one of the last that actually can among the Elven community. Raven made it this way so anyone who couldn't read it wouldn't be able to figure out all he wrote."

"Hmm" Kreig said

Jargos was listening intently

"Then what are we supposed to do? How are we to stop all this madness?"

"We find the source of the shadows and take it down. There's a high chance that a spell-caster has summoned these shadows."

"And? That's easier said than done."

Layla looked to Jargos. "We have a plan. But it's still a work in progress and it's extremely risky."

Jargos looked at Kreig and nodded to him

Kreig nodded at Jargos, he knew what was going on. That's how the language of beasts works. Words aren't needed when the answer is obvious. Kreig gently put his hand on Luna's shoulder

Layla was almost sure that Kreig knew what was going on. "To sum things up, we questioned about taking the risk of sending one of the members of the group out to the shadows and see where they lead. Jargos and I wondered, if we did this, who could do it and have some reasonable resistance. A person to go out there, and another person to snap them out of possession if it came over them."

Luna was in shock. "Let me get this straight with you. You want to send one of us out there to our ultimate death?"

"Not exactly." Layla shifted uneasily. "We thought that, after seeing Kreig's response to you in his final form, he'd be able to get through possession and still come out of it if we put you into play. If the caster of this spell is smart, however, we'll run into a problem. He'll do everything possible to get his hands on you to ensure that Kreig stays under his control."

"You can't just send him out there, Grandmother. That's not fair! I'll go in his place if I have to--"

"And there's something else. Sending you out there alone is absolutely out of the question. I can't give you a reason right now, but I can promise you that you can't be the one to go out there against them on your own."

"Luna . . ." Kreig spoke quietly

Jargos looked to Layla, asking her to let Kreig speak for a moment

Layla nodded to Jargos. She had a serious face going on at the moment which made it clear to Luna that she wasn't joking around.

Luna turned to face Kreig. "I know you can handle things on your own, I'm just worried." Concern was on her face and she was wondering who she was angry at. At Layla for her plan or Raven for giving Layla the book.

Kreig kissed her cheek

Luna hugged Kreig immediately. "Promise me you'll come back. If they hurt you in any way, Kreig, I'll kill every last one of them."

"It's not me you should be worried about" Kreig told her "I promise to come back to you"

Luna pulled back from Kreig to face Layla. "As heartless as I feel your plan is, if Kreig is willing to do it then I'll stand by his choice. I hope the three of you know what you're doing."

Layla nodded. "With Kreig out on the field, you'll have to be protected. You're the only thing that we're sure can break whatever hold they may put on him. He's currently the strongest one out of all of us. I know that my magic, alone, could barely hold him steady by what he displayed."

"When should I go?" Kreig asked


Jargos remained quiet

Layla turned to Jargos. "I'll leave that up to you. I'm not the only one that came up with this, anyway."

"Soon" Jargos, hoping Layla would translate for Luna


Kreig nodded

Layla translated. Through a silent, mental communication, Layla asked Jargos if he and Kreig could leave the two women alone to talk.

Jargos nodded to Layla and took Kreig outside

Luna sat down on one of the two available beds in the room. "Why are you doing this? Is there something so twisted within you that makes you pull Kreig and I apart like this?"

"You're not understanding what I'm trying to get to, Luna. Kreig cares about you enough to where you could probably break any hold they put on him. I know you're upset. I understand what you're going through."

"You think you understand what I'm going through? You think you really do? Were you that blind, Layliana?"

Layla growled under her breath. The comment on her understanding had picked at her. But the blindness comment had gotten to her.

"First of all, let me get something through your head. I may not look like it, but I went through every single thing you're going through right now. You don't know what it's like to have everything taken away from you. You really do not know, Lunalia." Layla packed the book up in her bag and put the bag on. "You've never married. You've never had a child. You and Kreig just met about a week or so ago. I've known Jargos most of my life. Don't tell me that I don't know, because clearly you're the one that doesn't." Burning anger and sadness was in Layla's eyes. She left the room without a word, passing by the two men in the hall with not so much as a comment. It was raining outside and Layla wanted to cool down.

Jargos and Kreig nodded to each other, then Kreig went to his room to lay down and wait for Luna

Luna was in near rage over Layla but went back to the other room to lay down. She sat on her bed and buried her face in her hands. "I just can't believe her."

"Luna, please don't be mad at me" Kreig asked her



Jargos went outside to be near Layla

"I'm not angry at you. I'm just a bit speechless with all of this."

Layla was outside sitting under a tree. The branches were thick and protecting her from most of the rain that came down.
