Misunderstood Destinies

Jargos was sad that his pep talk failed, but he could not expect more. She had to find the answer herself. When they stopped, Jargos dug a fire pit and went to gather wood, leaving Layla to her thoughts

Layla glanced at the unconscious Balthazor, in which she was glad had still been quiet. As the afternoon was soon to be setting, Layla headed out into the forest. It was a bit far from camp, but enough to let her practice.

Jargos returned and began making a fire. He left and went to find some game

Layla put her hands together in a symbolic fashion and spoke the chant to summon the power of the Ancients. Her eyes turned white and her body glowed with the white aura. She had to teach herself control and go over her limits. Although it was risky, it was a risk she wanted to take. A white sphere formed in her hand like a ball full of air. She ran quick and thrust it into a tree. After the collision, a large hole was left inside it. Layla started panting at the power alone it took for the attack.

Jargos came back to camp with an Elk and a Boar, both skinned and gutted. He set up two spits and began cooking. Jargos nudged Balthozar awake, and told him that if he ever complained again, he'd hit him harder

Layla blasted a few more attacks, which consumed much of her magic to proceed with. There was still time before evening, and she continued on.

Jargos let Balthozar man the spit while he practiced some long ranged Fire magic. He still had trouble keeping the fire powerful once it left his hands, but he was getting just a little better

When Layla had made one more move, she was blown back by the attack unlike before. The Ancient Magic she used had instantly cancelled itself. Upon the backfire, she was tossed to the ground with a thud. Going over her limits had exhausted her and caused her to black out.

Jargos felt unease in the air, but kept practicing



The aged wolf appeared from behind a nearby tree and approached Layla

Layla shifted slightly and, for the moment, came back to consciousness. Her eyes returned to normal color, though when she tried to form the power sphere in her hand again it merely flickered and disappeared. "Come on..." she said in aggravation. "This is ridiculous."

The wolf watched, patient. He could sense her raw power, waiting to burst to the surface. He knew she was almost ready



Jargos gave up long ranged and went to mid ranged

Layla knew she'd need to get to camp to let Jargos know she was alright, but she was unsure if she could get back there with her energy low from the back-blast. She stood up, gripping her staff for balance. She tried to form the sphere again, but it kept fading from her hands.

The aged wolf approached her and looked at her quizzically


Jargos halted training for the night, then got back to cooking

Layla spotted the wolf from the distance. She stared back, confused.

The wolf went to her to offer aid

Layla sighed and sat down against a tree. She gone far enough beyond her normal limits and left her exhausted. Using too much energy caused her to be unable to use her powers for now.

The wolf laid down next to her, then relaxed

Layla soon fell asleep against the tree.

Jargos ate his fill, then took the spit with the half an Elk left and went to find Layla. He left Balthozar in charge of the camp

Layla remained asleep next to the wolf.

After a while, Jargos found her, but when he realized she was asleep. He chuckled under his breath as he looked around and saw that she'd been training. He dug a small fire pit and set up a mini camp. He thanked the aged wolf for looking after her

A short time later, Layla woke up again. She still attempted to use her magic once more without truly realizing it. The sphere kept flickering in her hand.

Jargos looked at the sphere and was in awe

Layla smiled to Jargos once she woke up enough to realize he was there. Standing up, she was forced to stand against the tree for balance. She put her hands around the flickering sphere, trying to get it to appear and stay. "Come on... Work..." she said.
