Misunderstood Destinies

Jargos cleaned every bone, then went to bury them. once he returned, he sat by the fire to relax a bit

When the two were relaxing, she held the potion in her hand and started thinking a bit.

Jargos noticed the potion, but said nothing. It was still up to her to give up the power to him. He closed his eyes and laid back

Layla turned to Jargos, done making up her mind in the thoughts she had. "So... Are you ready?"

He nodded, then opened his eyes and sat up, turning his body to face her. His runes were glowing a soft blue

Layla walked over to him and sat in front of him. "All I need you to do is to take my hand with both of yours, then focus like you did before. Do the same thing you did before." She held out her right hand to him, her left forming a fire within it. "If you want to do this, that is."

Jargos nodded, then did as instructed. He began to breath deeply as he closed his eyes

After he closed his eyes, she put out the flame in her hand and opened the bottle. Drinking the potion inside, she sat the empty bottle down and re-lit the fire that was in her palm. She concentrated on her fire powers.

Everything around her had grew silent except for Jargos' breathing and the sound of the fire within her hand. She could hear her own heartbeat as it sped up slightly in reaction to the potion in her system. Layla clenched her teeth slightly as she felt small sparks of pain within her. It was a feeling as if someone was literally taking a part of her. Trying to keep the signs of her pain down to a minimum, her white aura began to glow. Although her eyes were closed, so did they. Her aura turned a deep red, then also began to encircle Jargos.

"You should be beginning to feel the energy, the warmth, of the fire flowing. I'm almost done."

Jargos did feel the energy, and his runes began to glow red as a reaction. He felt her hand move ever so slightly and figured she was in pain, but seeing as she didn't stop, he allowed this to continue.

Layla's breathing picked up in pace, though she did her best to keep it under control. The red aura began to fade from Layla and grow brighter around Jargos. The flame in her hand was fading down as her power was transferred to Jargos. It started to heat up on her skin unlike before. Right before it started to burn her skin, the flame faded and the red aura faded from her body.

"Process completed," she said. Layla opened her eyes and the white had turned back to normal. "You're now a fire-magic wielder." Her heartbeat and breathing began to return to a regular pace. She was exhausted.

The aura was absorbed into Jargos' runes and took one final deep breath. When he opened his eyes, his red irises were back, but faded quickly. He saw her hand had begun to burn and her gently took it into his own to examine it. He shifted a bit and pulled out a herbal medicine from one of the sacks and offered it to her.


"I thank thee, my friend"

Layla nodded. "Using potions like that aren't easy, and that's why they're not freely available. They just like stripping potions except less powerful. I see why they're less powerful now. They're painful and exhausting to use even in a weakened dose." She took herb, noting it as Aloe, and used it on her nearly-burned hand.

Jargos nodded, then stood up and backed up. He took a deep breath then made a small ball of fire in his hands. He let the fire go out

Layla smiled. "Rumors once said that, even if you weren't born magical, that being given a power by another could lead to developing more. Maybe it's true, maybe it's not."

Jargos shrugged, then sat down next to Layla

Layla hand still burned slightly, but the pain within her had finally ceased. "The problem with those potions is that it gives a feeling that makes you feel like you're being literally torn apart. I'm sure you could sense it every now and again, and thus did my best to conceal it."

Jargos nodded, feeling bad that it caused her pain

"Whatever the case, the power is yours. Use it carefully, however. After all, it is fire."

Jargos nodded, then laid back

Layla laid back on the grass and looked up at the sky. The mountain stood tall. She could imagine the noise and the rumors that would be going through the town by now. Layla turned her head away from the peak, angry with her friends and elders in the village.

Jargos began to drift to sleep

While Jargos was asleep, Layla walked quietly over to a tree nearby and laid against it. A white sphere formed in her hand.

"Mother?"

"Layliana, darling, I'm so glad you're alright."

"Well, for the most part. What's going on in Zeiza?"

"The Elders are raging over what happened earlier. They're doubling up patrols around the village. Some of the Guards are even patrolling outside the gates now and farther down the mountain."

"Then we'll need to move on to another location soon. We're at the base of the Northern Mountains."

Jargos remained asleep

"I wish you'd come home, honey."

"Mother, you know if I do then they'll seize me immediately."

"I think I need to inform you that Airen is also on the patrols. What happened between you two?"

"He attacked me. I called everything off."

"Shall I talk to him for you?"

"No, Mother. It's over. I need to go. I'm exhausted."

"You used a transferring potion, didn't you?"

"Indeed."

"Get plenty of rest. They sap your strength easily."

"Will do."

The sphere faded. Layla soon fell asleep.

Jargos did not dream, but he slept well. Soon, all the wolves and bears returned to the two.
