"Maybe he was doing research last time, or he tried to use the scyphozoa last time to extract the digital key."

"No, that wasn't what he was after. Not that time. I wish I could remember what he said. Maybe if I sleep on it tonight, I'll find out. He did something, but he didn't take the key. That's one of the things he's after. But that's not what he got."

"He said something about the Lyoko connection and that it's useless to shut down the super computer even if the Lyoko connection issue is resolved."

Cathain soon arrived, however the entire tower was on a large iceberg and surrounded by water. Ice blocks were placed to get to the tower, but they looked almost unstable.

A bridge suddenly formed across the ice blocks, connecting them together. "I tried. Now get to the tower and deactivate it quickly."

Cathain quickly ran across the bridge, it falling down as soon as she was across. Going into the tower, she accessed the upper floor. A panel appeared and Cathain placed her hand on it.

Ryou yelled, "Return to the past!" Ryou was back at the science classroom and Cathy was back in the locker room.

"Oh, I'm really not going to like this..."
"What's wrong, Cathain?" Shannon asked.
"Of course. We never had the conversation. Time reset to before I left." Cathain paused. "I'm fine. Nothing is wrong. Just a little jittery. Too much caffeine this morning."

Cathy's phone rang. "How did you get my number twice?"

"I have my ways. So is everything fine on your end?"

Cathain hung up, having to leave the room after getting changed.

"Class, first thing today on the agenda is learning how to dive properly and come back up safely. I'll demonstrate and you follow."
Jim did a basic dive and lift off the bottom of the pool.
"I'll join you back up to the upper diving area to make sure you're in proper position before you dive. O'Connor, you're up first."
"Jim, I can't--"
"You're going to make the dive. You've learned the basics and you should know how to get back up safely. Now, go!"

"You can do it, Cathy-chan~" A familiar voice echoed in her head. She suddenly looked to the left to see Ryou laid back against the wall in the shadows, smiling.

Cathain made the dive unwillingly. As she got under, she felt as though she was sinking. She panicked for a moment, having experience with nearly drowning in the past. Cathain was underwater for at least a minute, and when she almost couldn't hold it any longer she grabbed on to the nearest pole and felt something grab her hand. Shannon pulled her out, having a hint of Cathain's panic.

"O'Connor, I'm disappointed in you. You and I will be talking later on your performance. McKenna, escort her back to the locker rooms."
Cathain walked off rather quickly.

"Why didn't you tell me you couldn't swim?"
"I was too afraid to. I've always been terrified of swimming, but this is a required class unless I can get Delmas to take me out of it." Cathain sighed. "I'm heading back to my dorm. I think I swallowed too much water on the impact to the surface."
"Why don't you get your parents to take you out of it?"
Cathain laughed a bit to herself. "Heh. What parents? I've never had any. Never known any."
She left the locker room, back to her dorm.

"You did well." Ryou told Cathy. He continued, "By the way, I got Delmas to remove you from swimming class. You have a free period now."

"Yeah, well," Cathain started as she unlocked her dorm door, "it doesn't take away what happened today. I think I would've rather taken on the Scyphozoa than that. It's less terrifying."

"It doesn't kill you. The experience is cold, but, to me, the water is colder. With the Scyphozoa, you're in a trance. You can't move. You can't feel anything at all. You can't hear anything except the beating sound of the Scyphozoa's power matching your heartbeat. Everything around you and that beast blacks out. In a way, you could say facing it is more terrifying. But, I've nearly drowned once before, and that's why I don't like water. Couldn't get help, couldn't get up. All I remember from that day was cold, black water and the smell of chlorine. I don't know who I was with, I don't know why. But, it scared me so badly that I swore I'd never swim again."

"When you've had an experience like that, you start to question which is worse. Dying in cold water, or death on Lyoko in cold blood. Frankly, I don't know. I just know that I don't like water more than I don't like the Scyphozoa. You never know which one is going to kill you first. But you know which one you've experienced first. And when you're just a kid in an orphanage full of people you don't know, it's terrifying."

Cathain sighed. She grabbed her laptop, pulling up an image of a building.

"I'm fifteen, been at Kadic for a few years now. I've lived at Saint Angel's Orphanage ever since I was a baby from what I'm told. The story was that my parents had dropped me off at the dreaded place and left only a basket and a blanket with my name on it. I have no memory of them, and I don't want any if they left me. I requested a computer when I was old enough to comprehend it. Kid's minds can't hold much until they're old enough to understand. When I read up online about a school by the name of Kadic Academy, I asked to start my schooling there. I had been schooled at the orphanage to avoid the public. But, when I found out about Lyoko, I became the one to disappear. Shannon is my best friend. Truthfully, the only one I have here. I have associates, but that's all. The less I had, the more I could focus on school and the computer. But, when I went to Lyoko for the first time, I accessed the tower and found some information that was set as a trap. Information for a price. When I came back to Kadic that night, I had a major migraine. Shannon got worried, but I told her not to worry about it. The next day I shut down the computer to avoid it being discovered. I realized how much of a risk I had fallen into."
