Destiny of Light (2)

As they arrived at the castle gates, a knight stood guard. "I cannot allow you to pass. State your name and business."

"Jargos, Layliana, and party. We request a court with the standing monarch. We have connections with the Royal Family."

Glancing among the group, the knight nodded. "Proceed."

As the group entered, a wave of rage hit Jargos. Something was not right, and Kreig felt it as well. A chuckle escaped Mortifer's lips

Layla heard a small sound from behind her. "Did he just laugh?" she asked.

Jargos growled and tossed Mortifer on the ground, but by then it was more apparent that something was wrong


Kreig growled and looked around

Layla and Luna took a battle stance beside one another. Layla summoned her staff and Luna drew her sword.

Mortifer was in stitches as a small army of men and women in long black garbs, all revealing some part of the body, be it head, stomach, arms, ect. Shadow monsters began to spring from the ground. Jargos roared and Kreig howled in fury

Layla's markings glowed and a white aura appeared around the team. "I can only hold a shield around all of us for so long. If you're going on the offense, do it now. You'll take very little damage in the meantime."

Jargos roared out as he shifted and Kreig brought up a raging thunderstorm as he shifted

Luna immediately went on offense, defending Layla as the shields lasted.

"The longer I cover you, the longer you can hold the shield. Stay behind me, Grandmother." This was the first time that Luna had ever chose to defend instead of attack. "It's about time the positions switch out."

Jargos ignited and a massive fire-storm began. Lighting stuck and flames licked the skies. Jargos and Kreig lunged forward to attack



The small army advanced and soon it was a brawl

Layla needed more power in the shields and withdrew the one around her. The white auras grew brighter.

"Do you even realize what you're doing?" Luna asked.

"Giving you guys a boost. If you're that determined to take the lead, then I'm not going to need it. I have faith in you."

Kreig and Jargos were pounding on the shadow warriors and monsters alike, but for each one that seemed to fall, more arose

As more creatures spawned around them, Luna said, "I don't understand. If the book was destroyed, if we stripped his powers, then how in the name of Gaea is this happening?"

Jargos and Kreig were just as confused, but they had to keep fighting



"You fools thought I was the only one who ever learned to read?" Mortifer choked out

Luna was getting angry. Everything they had worked for was getting thrown back in their faces. She growled in anger and started throwing attacks faster. Faint blue marks started appearing on her arms. Layla caught this and it nearly threw her off guard when a shadow came behind her. Luna took the creature down quickly and went back to slashing.

On the offensive, Jargos and Kreig had no peers, but their numbers were beyond count

Luna was forced to defend Layla as the shadows gathered in on them. Layla's power would start weakening soon if they didn't find a way out. She and Luna went back to back in defense, successfully keeping back the shadows from attacking the two.

As Jargos and Krieg were swarmed, they were both struck down, the storm stopped, and an icy chill filled the air

Layla watched as the two men were taken down. The two women yelled out their names in unison.

"What should we do?" Luna asked.

"I don't know. If we even try to get out there, we're likely to get taken down."

"We have to do something."

"Just give me a moment to think. We're running out of options, running out of group members, and running out of time."

Jargos and Kreig could not move, it was if they were being eaten

Layla tried to breathe calmly. "Luna, I really don't think we have much of a choice and I don't know if you're ready."

"Grandmother, we have to try something."

Layla wanted to activate Luna's powers quickly, but she was wondering if the risk was worth it. "I can't risk losing any of you."

"Right now, their lives are on the line. So is yours without a shield. Take my hand." She held out her hand to Layla. "We know how to activate it."

Layla didn't want to agree, but she had no choice. "You know what I'll have to do if you lose control."

"It's better than sitting down."

Luna took Layla's hand as the white markings appeared on Layla's body. In response, faint white markings appeared on Luna. The two women focused as hard as possible but the shadows were rising up around them.

Jargos and Kreig could not stand and they both faded away

Layla felt an instant pain in her chest.

"Are you alright?" Luna asked.

"Something's wrong... Really wrong. Luna, you've got to go out there." Layla pushed Luna out of the way as the black creatures had pulled her back onto the ground. Her magic had been cut off after they restrained her.

"Grandmother!"

"G-go, Luna. You're the last chance we have." Layla was too weak to fight back but she was trying with all her might to retain her powers.

Luna dashed off to the center field. "Come on..." she said. Blue markings appeared faintly on her skin.

With a quick glance to Layla, Luna saw that the marks on her skin were fading. Desperation was in her eyes before she fell unconscious.

Luna yelled out in inner pain. With rage immediately boiling over, blue flames surrounded the arena. The marks on her skin turned a cerulean blue and her eyes turned the same color. Her aura turned red in her rage. Seeing Mortifer nearby, she immediately dashed off to him and hit him many times, as hard as she could. "Give them back!" she yelled. She drew her sword. "Call them off. Call them off now or I swear to Gaea I'll murder you and every last one of them here! I'm not afraid to kill you or anyone else!"
